Default Why do you think so many people are not excited about the Nationals???

Seems like there is no real excitement for the Nationals this year (except for first timers).

What do you think the reason(s) for all the non-excitement is all about???? I have asked a few people and they have offered various reasons. What say you?

They're very good at hiding their excitement.

You're kidding right? They sold out of all VIP passes weeks ago. This is going to be the most heavily attended national in a decade.

I suppose there is not a ton of promos to talk about if that's what you mean but its going to be an absolute madhouse this year.

I was just about to say... they sold out of VIP, then offered a 5-day early entry pass, sold out of that too, and now all that's left is general admission. I would expect lines around the block and the largest attended National of all time. Plenty of excitement this year!

P.S. It's not "the Nationals". This isn't a gymnastics competition or swim meet. There is ONE National and it is called The National. No "s" at the end. Pet peeve of mine.

If I'm not excited it's only because I can't be there.

Not kidding at all. Not saying it is not going to be the biggest ever, but that may be because of all the youtubers and Sasha wannabees, but just wondering if those have gone in the past are really excited to overpay for cards this year....

This, as well as Upper Deck not being there are main reasons for me not being as excited. At the end of the day it means I'll (probably) spend less money and just enjoy hanging out more.

Ahh, I knew you had an ulterior motive. Looking at your post history:

Yes, there are tables. A lot of guys bring their million dollar douche bag clam shell cases to sell cards out of......

That's when the Nationals was the Nationals. Now it is a bunch of 15 year old's walking around with douche bag million dollar clamshells trying to be knockoff Sasha T wanna bees......

To see how many 15 year kids with million dollar collections in their clam shell cases I can count walking around the show trying to peddle their goods.....

Sounds like you are the one who isn't excited. Jealous of all the 15 year old millionaires you have to deal with this time??

Publicity stunt. Upper Deck says they won't be there and then announces 12 promos that they'll be running with "senior staff" at the show.

https://www.upperdeckblog.com/2021/0...rs-convention/

It's their way of saying "We don't want to pay for booth space but we'll be at everyone else's booths instead".

I think you overestimate how many of them there are relative to “regular” collectors. Naturally due to their larger social media presence.

What do you mean? What non excitement are you talking about? Can you explain?

It just sounds like you and the "few people" you talked to might not be excited about it, and. you turned that into "so many people are not excited".

Edit- you already seem to have the answer to your question from your previous posts on the topic... but its all your feelings, not "so many people".

Jeez. Salty as can be. Why even start this thread with this false narrative when you already have this floating around.

Thanks for stalking me. Stalking people must be your ulterior motive. If you don't feel the need to answer the question, just move along. If you feel the need to stalk people, then, by all means, continue doing you.........

I can tell you that I am excited but also a little concerned about not being able to do as much as I have done at past Nationals. One example is the cost of wax is so much more now than in 2019 and I may not be able to participate in the wrapper redemptions (Topps especially) at the same level. So I need to be content with just getting a few packs instead of being able to get enough packs to build the set.

Unfortunately I'm in Canada and they only recently opened the border with restrictions so I'll have to miss it this year. But I hope you all have a great time.

Please do share your experiences if you can !

Thanks

I have noticed literally the opposite, but playing devil's advocate, it would have to be due to the uncertainty of the promos and general uneasiness given the recent pandemic.

It’s not as robust as normal—many things people enjoy are missing or more expensive than normal
