As do I and he batting! The metallics are probably in the 2,000-3,000 range also.

What do you think of Ohtani's '18 Topps Team Set RC variation? He's in the preferred batting stance that most people like, the card borrows the same design from '18 flagship, and it's more limited. Seems to be pretty undervalued in my opinion, but maybe that's just me.

I think with ohtani you stick with the flagship numbered parallels with US1 or 700 + chrome variations. Since there are just so many rookie cards for him, one of those will end up being his marquee card.

I would probably go with the 700 , first card for the flagship.

Maybe you're right. But it seems that his '18 New Era RC variation (also using the same flagship design) appears to be an exception to the rule. Whereas his Team Set variation can be still had for like $8-$10, his New Era variation will normally sell for $80-$100. Seems a bit odd, don't you think?

The great thing is I have 3 700 and 3 TC150. Also multiples of the TC Update versions. None are batting, but none graded either. I do have 5 at CSG however. Have some US1’s also.

Here's what I found from Cardboard Connection regarding the New Era RC

"Part of a very limited promo, 2018 Topps New Era cards were issued at just a handful of MLB ballparks. Borrowing the flagship design once more, the Ohtani rookie card has a close-up image that perfectly shows his New Era cap."

Maybe that's why it sells for more.

I'm lucky I sent in a small assortment to PSA as an afterthought just cuz I like him, took 8 freaking months to get them back! My 700 gold got a 10 along with TU RD rainbow ( Never understood the hate for RD) and also my H variation. My RD Gold only got a 8.5
I also got a batting Gypsy Queen green 10. I pulled them all except the H.

What I really want to know is... what is the value of his bobble head and game ticket debut worth

Lol a Holiday Metallic 9 is a $40 card. I've been buying them raw for 10 bucks this month. They are rare but really undesirable. If you want a comparison look at the Acuna which is a very mature market. Acuna has way less rookies and his image on holiday is bat down which is the most sought after image in the entire hobby and his metallic snowflakes go for 40 bucks. Also I'd say 1 in 5 listings for Metallic are just the seller trying to pass off a regular holiday. Most of the time you can tell in the picture but it's very subtle.

Heard on a broadcast last night that Ohtani has played in Yankee Stadium only for four games before yesterday. But that every hit he has had there has been a Home Run. Dunno how many in those 4 previous games.
