he didn't land it - he didn't connect with anything other than the ball. If they awarded points in boxing for incidentally swiping with the inside of the forearm then the sport would look much different. Their whole arms would be padded up.

He meant with his hand. The hand, which was swiped, got ball. His arm just caught him in doing so, which is why it shouldn't have been a 2. If it was the hand, sure.

what happened? Jokic wound up - true - to slap the ball away completely - which he did... no blood, no concussion protocol, nothing broken from the defender.

The Griffin on Giannis foul is worse to me - players are actually vulnerable when they jump - and BG did not make a play on the ball whatsoever. That's a flagrant 1 all day. Harris connected, inadvertently, with Connaughton, but did so with his elbow and caused quite a bit of damage - if he meant to do it that's an F2, but he didn't so that's a flagrant 1.

so in Jokic' case, he did make contact with Payne's nose - but did swipe the ball away - I'd guess it's borderline F1. In no way was he attempting to injure Payne or throw the game away [again it's a close game and on his home floor]

If you want a good example of a big guy going at a smaller guy with nothing but malicious intent and no play on the ball, only clearly frustrated with the game, then the best example is Bynum on Barea

30-pt blowout in the 4th [so the game is 100% over], no aplogy even attempted - dude just heads straight for the locker, no play on the ball, just a dirty play and absolutely a F2.

I'm having a hard time following this. Jokic/Payne foul is borderline a flagrant 1 because not enough harm was caused. Ignoring Payne collapsed on the court. Giannis/Griffin foul is an easy flagrant 1 because it's dangerous. Ignoring Giannis shugging and headed back up court perfectly fine. So what's your criteria? Dangerous play or harm inflicted? The answer is both, it's just odd that the play showing both is borderline to the other in your eyes.

I view the Jokic and Bynum plays very similarly. Frustration fouls from bigs on little guys but at least Bynum was protecting the paint. Not sure what Jokic was protecting. Ego?

The playoffs is coming down to a simple question. Who can stay healthiest? Injury questions all over the place this year.

I'll weigh in briefly on the Jokic foul even though it's beating a dead horse. I don't think he should have been tossed but the guy had a crazed look in his eyes when Booker got in his grill. Maybe that had something to do with it via replay?

Regardless, Jokic did the right think and showed good sportsmanship.

Guy had a frustrating series going from MVP to having his squad being totally outmatched for 4 games. It is what it is.

On to Philadelphia vs Atlanta.

This is Atlanta's last chance to hang in the series. I did originally pick Philly in 6, so If the Hawks are going to win another one, I think this is it. I'll still go with Philly for my pick, but this should be a more competitive game than the last 2.

Trae must be hurt you see him favoring the arm. I haven’t seen him brick a wide open three that bad all season, or miss two free throws in a row. The team has missed 4 alley oop or lay ups. Get an o board and turn it over for a fast break dunk. They have been given every chance to take a big lead.

Atlanta couldn’t be playing worse. Every possible break has gone bad. It’s been difficult to watch. The fact they aren’t down 25 is impressive. This isn’t the team I’ve watched for the last 3 + months.
