Also for a baseball card, I want to see the card capture some energy in the player. Bring the player to life. Not too many cards do that. The only 2021 Topps flagship card that I've seen do that is the amazing Kenta Maeda card.

My observations:

NY Nico's Mantle could have been a nice card even with the pink hues and silly crown. But the pinstripes and the coloration of the Yankees down the side make it a visually ugly card. I feel like it pushes away my eyes when I try to look at it.

I didn't know who Action Bronson was before Project 70 and have not made any effort to listen to his music or learn much more about him. But as a Yankee fan I am strangely drawn to his cards and am doing a full set so far. Don't judge me!

I did a full King Saladeen run in Project 2020 and this Betts is superior to many of his Project 2020 cards, but I just haven't felt the need to purchase any Saladeen cards other than Sabathia. I think part of a general problem for me is that 2008 is the only Topps design I really like from 1990 on.

I get what Skee is doing and appreciate the passion and the work he's putting in, but that is not a player or rapper that I care about. I do think it would be nice if he could center each one around an identifiable Topps design, but he is not the only artist guilty of that.

I opened a Series 2 blaster this weekend, and while ripping packs is always fun, I immediately thought about how I could have used the $20 to on a Project70 card for my collection.

Those series 2 cards will all sit in a box and collect dust, likely never to be looked at again (unless an obscure rookie becomes a surprise star).

What are the numbers after taking out the paid click farms, the modern equivalent of the publisher buying copies of the books / albums they make. On a relative basis he may be the most popular, but most social media popularity is fake.

First of all, I rarely purchased single cards so my price isn't $20 per. I buy a 4-pack or multiples at the price break quantities. What metrics would matter to you? He is in tv commercials, he performed at the Super Bowl the other year, hes been the guest musician on SNL, hes been showing up in WWE matches, etc. etc. as well as all the gigantic stats for charting music that anyone outside the industry has access to.

They do not replace base cards. I have gotten many. It is always extra.

Outside the superbowl you mentioned things that have lost a ton of popularity over the last 20+ years. My point is more music is becoming extremely niche. Its much harder to break into the general culture because there is none anymore. On a relative basis to today he may be the most popular, but that's far less popular than artists from 20,40,60 years ago etc.
