NBA Top Shot - High Risk, High Reward?

I have had it posted since last night. They seem to have trended upward a bit perhaps from the unknown surrounding challenge inclusion.

As far as iconic goes, sure, in the history of the game its just another cool play, but I do think this is one of the moments (so far) that embodies what TS is trying to cultivate.

I agree with everyone that the likelihood is this moment eventually trends lower. I will def use this as a tool to get to a holo CS if it was within reason. However, I also think this moment will hold a long term premium, even if irrational, just based on the combo of start to finish entertainment value and the star power of the finisher.

Sell at the peak and buy back later for cheaper if you really want one for your pc. There will be many more LE's of every star player in future releases. Never a lack of choices or availability.

Advise of the day and I listed now all my stuff, actually I like some of my moments and I do like NFTs, but scarcity is so out of whack for these collectibles so I better cash in now for my 5 digit count moments. (my 14$ investment looks still good regardless)

Odds look good that I can get them back later in the offseason for 1-2 bucks.

Will be interesting to see how they implement the burning of moments. This would align with the ticket concept they discussed a month or so back. Turn otherwise garbage moments into tickets for a shot at unreleased packs or other items.

I think it would be cool to see commons potentially turn relatively scarce if everyone dumps for a shot at something else. Not saying Ish Smith will ever be on par with a Doncic moment, but it does give a certain utility to what are currently throw away moments.

I feel like Twitter is like this thread but in steroids. Plenty of people on the extremes of both sides. Some think Top Shot is the next form of currency while others think it’s the downfall of the country.

You should join MLB Topps NFT to get a feel of how the burning and crafting works before TS implements (if ever) Burning. How and when burns and crafting effects prices and supply. Interesting stuff.

No idea. Its just been noted that it will be on the road map. I think the comment recently was high double digits. That would seem like a lot to lay out for a chance at a pack. Maybe not though since they are S1?

Even the at 3$ S2 (im assuming the tickets would create a decent floor), that could mean upwards of 2-300$. Cant see that just being thrown away for nothing.

Im thinking it may be more of a stake style. You stake the moments for tickets, if you get a pack, then you cash in. If you dont, you get your stake returned. Maybe thats not enough skin in the game, unless the tickets themselves had other utility? Maybe if you dont get an S1 pack, you get a more meaty or special edition S2/S3 pack?

When the trade tickets were first brought up there was no mention of burning, they would just be recycled. And you wouldn't be guaranteed a pack, the tickets would be a new currency, so you could join the queue and if you got a good spot you could spend your tickets on the pack.

Burning adds an entirely new layer to Top Shot. The actual quote was more than 50 at the least. It'll probably be 125 or so. That' still a lot of Moments. So a Series 1 Pack, if you won in the queue, would run anywhere from $250-$375. Seems about right.
