Yep. And considering last year’s sets arent flipping, and 2021 RCs are looking worse than 2020 (with possible exception of Kelenic?) I doubt they’ll be too hard to get

Indeed. I had 2 of the purple/target sets on ebay BIN forever (still holding my green/walmart) and someone finally hit them about a month ago at $140 + shipping. Forget if they cost $40 or $50 originally.

Was the Wally 1/1 set ever discovered? I never saw where that was found. Hopefully it's not sitting in one of my 30 or so sets that will never be opened.

I can't recall on the print run. That was definitely discussed a good bit a while back but I forget. These were definitely easy to find in the wild for a time as flippers didn't bother given the smaller profit margin/weight of the sets. I think the Wally ones and Target variations will do well as long as at least a few of the key rookies from the class pan out. I have no worries holding long-term from MSRP.

Well played. However, I have seen recent WM stocks with much older product. The 19 TCU took me by surprise since that is a Target exclusive. Had to be a plant by someone.

It wasn’t easy, but not impossible. I was able to grab purple and orange sets in stores, and oranges online without a bot.

There was at least one day, I feel like a couple, where everyone on blowout was hammering complete sets on Walmart.com. They were in stock for quite awhile, and if you had them in your saved for later people were continuing to purchase even after they showed oos. I wasn’t even going to buy any but got 4 just from fomo with how nuts the complete set thread was going.

I have done complete sets for the last 3 years but I am staying far far away this year with the PSA stoppages and impending price hikes - will be pretty tough to recoup with base. Foilboard/colored singles for me.

this is true. with grading basically off the table the buy 50 sets to bust and grade is out the window. probably was out the window either way with this checklist. That got progressively more difficult with 2019 profitable, 2020 less so with the weaker checklist and the poorer condition of the cards in general. 2021 even worse. 2022 should be solid with hopefully PSA back open and a wandy led rookie class.

Would you send all the good rookie base (any variations that were good or the other random hits) in for grading?

What do you do with the other random base cards?

I wasn’t doing it personally, there were guys here who would break down how they’d do it, but they’d take the top 3-5 rookies and check them for condition then send the gradeable ones off. i remember 2019 as having a lot higher % gradeable than 2020.

The profit margin was decent on 2019 and is even better now with tatis and vlad blowing up.
