I'd love it if some people put their money, or boxes I guess, where their mouth is. But it won't happen. Even if it does probably end up with nothing.

In the poker world, there’s a term for the ornery, rigid, older types — Old Man Coffee or OMC. The baseball forum definitely strikes me as the OMC of Blowout Forums.

Bowman Megas were heavily printed for 2020 as well. Many stores had 50 to 60 boxes in a single restock, plus there were drops online. Look at their prices now.

Many are underestimating how much of this product is actually opened. It is one of the most popular products and has a lot of different cards to chase. Bowman Megas are one of the best products in my opinion to hold long-term.

unless you work at the executive level at panini you have no idea what their plans are.

What I can say from a business perspective, is selling another 1000 cases or more, will have minimal effect on the market. Bumping the price $5-$15 per box will have minimal effect on the market. If they don't increase production slowly over time, while also bumping price, then they are a poorly run business.

Maybe they are. Or maybe 5 years from now we'll look back on your comment and say, we sure didn't see that increase in production and price coming.

I’m glad they stopped too. In the last year, I saw a couple fat packs of bowman and a blaster of 2020 update. That’s it

Bought 6 megas and 10 contenders this morning

There is nothing to compare 2020 Select retail to. There is no 2019 Select football retail. Heck I would argue that 2020 Optic football retail was printed less than 2019 Optic. 2020 Prizm printed the same as 2019. Any other 2019 football product the same as 2020.

2020 is over. Already printed.

I'm interested in what happens in 2021. 2022. 2023. etc

Yea 2020 bowman megas were reselling at around $35. Now they can’t be found for cheaper than $100-$110. Not only isthere bobby witt and dominguez, but guys like durran and sam huff are on the come up.
There’s always gonna be a breakout player from bowman. It just takes some time.

The VP mentioned it in an interview the other day.

There is a big difference between 1000 cases more and what Topps has done recently. Wasn't Topps flagship retail doubled in production? Same will probably hold true for Bowman.

It's been pretty well established for the last year Panini is a very poorly run business. They have somehow managed to make about as little extra profit as they can possibly make the last year. Giving all the money instead to the distributors and flippers.

Assuming the same Select hobby production year over year, then adding retail this year means production increased. Diluting the value of the non-numbered cards.

Well sorry I don't have a crystal ball and you for whatever don't care about what has happened in retail very recently and now only the future.

We are talking about wax. There was no 2019 Select football retail wax so you can't compare production for 2020 Select retail to any other year. For Prizm, Optic, Contenders or whatever else there was previous years retail you can.

Why are we talking football cards on a baseball thread?

you'll need to quote me some numbers to show production has doubled.

I believe production has been up in 2020 across S1 S2 and update, of about 2000 jumbo cases and 2000 hobby cases. It was about a 25%-30% increase I believe. But most of the production was at the hobby/jumbo level, which I think primarily remains unsold because the price is so high.

Regardless, yes 2020 already increased. I haven't seen reliable 2021 info and haven't computed it myself. BUT my overall point is just because topps is the first mover doesn't mean Panini isn't going to do the exact same thing and to expect otherwise is foolish. Panini may be run by idiots, but those idiots can figure out produce another 1000 cases and charge another $20 per box= $$$$$$. LIke I said, we'll see if in 5 years Panini has managed to squander this opportunity or if like the rest, they print more and raise the price.

Considering inflation is here - prices are going up for everything regardless of demand is my guess.

So maybe the ol' flipper-kleckters have finally figured out what real collectors have known for years: there's pretty much nothing of flipping value to be had from retail Bowman and baseball boxes in general? Set builders and such might actually be able to go back to opening some retail just for the fun of building some sets and seeing what else happens?

Hooray!!

I agree these are usually a safe bet and picked up 12 boxes 6 on my account and my wife picked up 6 on her account. Will bust two and put the other ten in the closet. But they really cranked the presses this year so we will see how they do.

2020 - 232,000 mega boxes
2021 - 350,950 mega boxes

I'm assuming production is up across all levels - have that info available quickly?

Curious on the retail/hobby/blaster/mega/fat pack break out and how much production is up on each level. I can see raising the mega and cutting production elsewhere since a large majority of the following here only want the megas

For Topps Series 1 retail weren't the odds on all parallels doubled? So isn't assuming double the amount was printed a safe bet?

The only way Panini has increased profits in the last year is by slightly raising some hobby MSRP, still in some cases they sell it for only 10% of what distributors presell the hobby product for, and bleeding every last cent out of FOTL boxes. Which is a drop in the bucket compared to what Panini should have and could of made. I guess we will see in the future if anything changes.

The thing that gets me with football is 2020 Chronicles drops the next week 2021 score drops. Panini never stops the presses. There was insane amount of select retail for about a month. There was more select put put at my retail stores than any other product released this year. Although optic had a longer run. There was new optic every week for well over a month.

Yeah, there is no way I would be able to get these in the stores. Mostly go to flippers.

I know this is the Internet , but please try to limit yourself to only making comments that have value .

This thread cares about online drops , not whether select or Bowman is better
