Exclamation StockX are scum & fraud, do not trust

I purchased a high-end wax box on StockX a month ago. They emailed me two days later to say they had received it. 7-10 biz days to ship, ok.

After 13 biz days I chatted them [no phone# provided of course] to ask where it was. They said they needed another 2-3 biz days to look into it, which is ludicrous, but okay, fine. I can wait a little longer for shipping. They've sold several boxes in the interim as well.

Today they canceled my order. No valid explanation was given.

And then emailed me the product was still available at literally 50% higher and asking me to raise my bid! WTF!

Nice business model you got there -
Step 1: they took my money upfront
Step 2: they got the product from the shipper < 48 hours
Step 3: ????? [theft from their shipping/etc dept]
Step 4: Wait 4 weeks
Step 5: Cancel order after I ask where is it
Step 6: Advertise same box to me at 50% higher market-price [several $hundreds].
Step 7: Refund won't be paid until next week.

So, looks like their employees are stealing product and they are taking free loans from me in the interim. Again, no real explanation was given just 'order not correct' and that's the only one that makes sense currently.

Seems like they are taking a page from COMC's playbook. This hobby can be frustrating sometimes.

i'm surprised they didn't give you a coupon to repurchase another one of their overpriced items

what likely happened, is the price went up and action was moving fast. they cancelled your order, bought it directly from buyer and sold your item at a higher price like a scumbag eBay seller.

Happens to me all the time with the sneakers. New release shoes ship by buyer, stockx says defect/fake/seller didn't ship match you with another seller. Items is hundreds higher days later, can't find another seller, order cancelled and refunded.

Man, that sucks. That's why I'm terrified of ordering high-end from them.

What did you buy btw?

I’m waiting on one item from them. So far it’s been low buck stuff but they’ve come through on all of it.

Problem with StockX is that you're dealing with children on the other end.

They're essentially the middle man. I wouldn't be surprised if the seller shipped the wrong product, whether intentionally or not and StockX updated on their platform showing the product was received.

I understand they are the middle man.
You don't take 20 days to tell someone - who had to contact you in the first place, and then wait another 4 days after that - that the wrong product was shipped.

Their initial reply confirmed the correct product was shipped to them.

They don't say, 'Oh, a random box arrived maybe it's for you!' They said Box XYZ that I had purchased 2 days ago was rec'd by them. It doesn't take many weeks to determine if the wrong box was shipped, and in any case, the seller would *then ship the right one* to fix it!

It seems pretty clear someone there stole it, or cut a deal with the seller to ship it back to him 'order not correct' so he can make an extra 50% selling.

And StockX takes a % of every sale
, so it is in their best interests to give, say, a volume wax seller a do-over for another $500+ in profit to him/StockX. Again, they have sold several of these boxes in the interim, they should have fulfilled my order first in any case.

They owe me that box at that price, and I'm going to contact the Attorneys General and BBBs and copy the StockX BoD to let them know StockX is running a fraudulent interest-free loan scheme for themselves at a minimum; and also a bait-and-switch on consumers. 'You can't have it at X but rebuy at 150% of X!'

I absolutely agree that it's BS and that they didn't rectify the situation.

Have you purchased a lot from StockX? I've done hundreds of transactions through them (mostly sneakers) and have only had one real issue.

I would call and get ahold of someone and give them a good tongue lashing even if they have refunded. Call them out on their BS. Tell them you are spreading the word.

They actually have decent prices for retail boxes. Sellers on StockX are usually younger and want to move product to fund their next "investment/flip" so they tend to undercut each other quite a bit.

a) first time
b) lower price on sealed wax

And, now, obviously the last time.

That's okay though, it's going to cost them $tens of thousands in lawyer fees, minimum, plus their time and effort to deal with the various AGs, BBBs, DoJ, SEC [they've sold securities!] Dan Gilbert/BoD and their own VCs who will be getting a copy of my complaint mailed to them. I'm sure I'm not the only one who has complained about their shady practices.

My printer paper is cheap. Their lawyers' time is not.

And I'll be spreading the word elsewhere, naturally.

I completely misinterpreted their website. I thought you sent the item, they confirmed authenticity and then you sold. What’s stopping someone from not shipping if the market swings and prices increase? So they are more like eBay (plus middleman with authentication) than like comc?

I have only bought a single pair of shoes from them but I think the seller ships to them, they confirm authenticity, and if they are deemed authentic they ship to the buyer.

I believe if you don’t send the item they will hit you a fee. Maybe 10 percent.
I guess if you do it often they kick you off the site

Never using COMC, just shipped my cards from Feb. I have never used StockX, even firmer to stay away.

Their customer service is almost non-existent. My best guess is that the box was damaged/stolen during shipping or failed authentication. If you want to pursue this further, I would probably reach out to them on social media. I heard you can get a better response there. I feel like you could get a discount to account for the price difference.

Why would I @ them? They're only going to say 'sorry, failed our process l8r.'
It's not like it's a box of sneakers sold as new in box, but actually used. It's a sealed box.

They got the box from the seller 4 weeks ago, it doesn't take that long to notice the printed shrinkwrap is on or off. It takes literally 5-30 seconds depending on how careful they want to be. Not 4 weeks. Not wait 3 weeks until I ask when is it being shipped and then delay another 4-5 days.

Not wait until the price is up 50% before telling me there was a problem on their end.
