The story specifically states he has the most baseball cards for a private collector.

Rob and family at Burbank is a business

Yes, I'm sure the autistic man was hounding the press for this article.

Curious, how was it camping out in front of Target last night? Did you kick any elderly or handicapped people on your way to hitting your 3 per SKU limit?

Hounding the press? Lol, it’s just a nice story about a father and son who can bond through cards.

That sounds awesome!
Maybe Rob should house his collection somewhere that people can come visit him and take a look at it.
Maybe if they like some of the cards they could offer to take them off his hands, perhaps for a small contribution towards the upkeep of his collection?
If it gets too big for him to manage himself he could even get some volunteers to help out. Give them a little stipend to cover their expenses.

Great Article. I think they showed a quick spotlight on him on that Sports card documentary in 2019, Jack of all trades.

https://www.sportscollectorsdaily.co...-than-1-story/

The documentary was an interesting story, kinda sad at some parts.

In regards to the article, Thanks for the read. The guy (Paul) loves his cards, probably more than I ever have (and would) in the last 30 years. So it is awesome to see that much passion from anyone.

Saw this article yesterday and I really wonder how many rare cards he has in there that people are looking for and will probably never see. Doesn't seem like he cares about value, and just opens cards and them sorts them. Who knows how many 1/1s he's pulled over the years, or valuable rookie cards. How many Delgado cards does he have in there that I need???

Could be a lot, could be none. But it makes you think haha. Who knows, maybe the 2006 Longoria Superfractor Auto is in there somewhere .

(But seriously, it's awesome he has fun with it and gets to share it with his father.)

Telling someone else this story and trying not to get choked up. “No I’m not tearing up!”

That's incredible. I know back in the mid 90's my dad and I probably had 250,000 total cards, but that was between baseball, football, basketball, and a little bit of hockey.

I'm down to about 250k. I've donated, trashed, and sold at least another 400k. 4 Mil is a lot but no where near a real record I would imagine.

Huh - I lived in Idaho Falls a few summers ago, broadcasting for the Chukars team mentioned at the end of the piece. I'll bet I crossed paths with him a time or two.

"It helps you read, spell and do geography," he said. "It helps you keep going every day. It takes away the thing, that I'm missing Gene 16, from my head. You don't have to worry about that every day. ... It's just a fun thing to do." ...

Love this ... Thank you for sharing a beautiful story

He wants to get to a billion. What would that even look like?

Everyone on here, who just trashes their base, should send them to him.

He’s more interested in quantity and not quality. So any rare cards he has are probably pack pulled. And since everything is organized in “ABC” order, I don’t think it would be hard for him to find his Delgado cards. Who’s ready to reach out and find out if he’ll trade to help him get to a billion cards? He only has 996 million more to go. Which means he only needs to trade one of his cards for 250 of your cards 4 million times to get there. I would give him 250 cards for each card he has that I need.

I’d still only offer him $350.
