I am jealous of some of you guys who arrived at your local Target after 7 am and were not too far back in line. I got to mine at 6:45 and was roughly 20th in line. There were Prizm and Select blasters that were long gone by the time I got to make my choice, but did get some Select fat packs so worth the wait I guess... LOL

Imagine if target trolls those early birds and puts out the sports and Pokémon later

Hit walmart. It opens at 7, got there at 630 was maybe 5th in line. Everyone allowed one of each then you can get back in line. There was only 10 of us there. We all got 2 select football blasters (pulled a tri color die cut mahomes from mine. No good rookies though) and we all got 3 of the cellos of prizm. Last back I pulled a Haliburton Silver prizm rookie. TONS of heritage, but I have opened enough. Walmart had some topps soccer. A ton of magic that they put behind customer service, and they even put fortnite cards back there. next wrnt to target, it opens at 8. Was 5th in the virtual line. Maybe 12 people there total by opening. Tons of Pokemon but sports was 4 prizm blasters and 3 select blasters. That's it. This store would get huge packouts. Like 15 megas of each product and 40 blasters of each. Makes me wonder if the 2 guys are still getting the best of it. Talking to 1 guy outside target, he told me he tried to pay her off, offered her $100 and she lol at him, and said I already gets way more than that. He showed me the texts between them. Now starting next week, the guy said any and all product that comes in will be kept at the AP lockup whatever that is, and it will all go out at once. I'm off next Friday so I guess we shall see. At target I ended up with 3 charizard gx hidden fates tins for my kid. Not a terrible day. I love living in a place where the population is small!

Target AP is probably asset protection...guessing it’s like Black Friday where there’s a locked wheeled case and it’s very regulated.

I decided to take a drive to my local Target and saw about 25 people waiting near customer service. They open at 7 and I was there around 7:20. Sure enough, there was a rolling shelf full of cases/boxes. I was told to be added to the electronic line I had to sign up with the Customer Service Manager. When your number comes up, you go to the shelf, point to what you want at 1 SKU per person. This is where it gets stupid. There were probably 50 SKUS on the shelves and people would point, the lady would grab the item, scan it and put it in a bag....then the person would look and do it again...over and over..clearly one of the most inefficient and lame processes I've ever seen. Take it, some would know what they want but others seemed to take forever. I shopped and after an hour and 20 minutes, I went back to see where I was in line....#10....I left.

Thankfully the policy changes next week to 1 item per person, per day. Topps and Upper Deck need a license.

That’s how it runs at the Target I go to. Everything is on a rack. You walk up, tell them what you want. He hands it to the cashier and they ring you up. This morning as the 6th person in line, I was out in 10 minutes. I think it’s a decent process for handling something that was out of control.

Around lunchtime:

Target only had UD Hockey, Opening Day (first time seeing this crazy enough), and Heritage.

WM had nothing but a few Heritage blasters.

On an semi-related note, the Target employee in charge of sanitizing the carts is starting to recognize me. It only took 6 months of using the Target to walk off my lunch for that to happen. lol

A friend of mines son started collecting a few months ago. Asked me how to get cards at Target/Walmart. I told him for the last year it's near impossible to find, but told him about what Target is doing. So he and his 9 year old kid went to our Target at 2:50AM to camp out and there was already 12 people in front of them. He texted and asked me what to get, and I said just get one of everything they allow you to and make sure that his son is counted and gets some for him. They both ended up with 1 Prizm BSK blaster, 1 Select FB Blaster, and 1 Select cello.

His son texted me right after he got home, to show me a nice Herbert Select, and his dad got a nice Burrow out of his Select. They really don't do basketball, so I told him to try and trade it to one of the other guys in the line. He said he's wanted to trade one to me for some FB cards. So it'll work out nice for me, to FINALLY get to open a Prizm blaster.

Your target sounds more lenient than mine, at mine the guy behind me had his young kid with him they and wanted to get 1 each of the pokemon items and they would not let him, they said it was only 1 per "paying customer". at a certain age kids become paying customers though so don't know how they can determine that/it may be subjective. probably trying to curb flippers from bringing their kids in.

Minimal effort today - came in around 7:45am and was able to get a single Select Cello and some random groceries. They had 4 cello boxes (48 packs) but instead of allowing people to get 3 cellos packs this week, they only let people get 1. No complaints on my end!

They had about a dozen Select Blasters and 4 loose NBA Prizm Blasters so I'm sure not the haul that the campers were expecting. Last night at 8pm, I saw a group of 6 already.

AP/Security told said they will keep the 8am Friday release time but it'll be one item only next week.

It's okay for the employees to outright lie to the customers who put in the time to make the store a profit?

It's just not worth going to only get one item.especially if its something you dont even collect.

I dont think you understand....

Everything is on a rack

1. They walk up
2. They look
3. They select an item
4. The cashier takes it off the shelf
5. The cashier scans it
6. The cashier puts it in the bag
7. They start back at #2 for the next SKU

and then they do that same process 10-20 times....keep in mind, these guys are also taking time to look and the cashier double checks to make sure they aren't picking two of the same item. Its a dumb and inefficient process and I'm glad its changing.

What is efficient?

1. 3 rolling shelves, divided between sport and non-sport.
2. Yes, continue to use the electronic line BUT call 5 people up at a time.
3. Have them pick one item(new policy), hand it to them and send them out to the cashiers. Easy day. 30 people out in 30-35 minutes.

***UPDATE*** my friend sent me a scan (a bad one), but looks like they also pulled a Jerry Rice Die-Cut Zebra. Not sure if they're in retail, but it has the black and white stripes. I'll see it later to confirm.

The second target I went to , one of the guys I seen at the previous target spotted me and tried selling me all his donruss baseball and heritage. He wasn't happy with his haul.

May not happen. Panini seems to be flush with cash.
