Re: the Camo. I think it had several factors.

BGS slab (wether you want to agree or not, it matters today!)

No Camo in the title. I almost scrolled past it when I first saw it, thinking it was a gold.

He hasn’t played in nearly 4 days. If the auction ended a week ago, it would’ve been a different story.

It’s the Camo. There’s zero sexiness around Camo’s. I’ve never heard anyone at a show say “I need the Camo version.” There’s no “story” on Camo.

Shiny is winning right now. Paper isn’t as cool as it once was.

To each his own. I absolutely love Camo's.

Im sure some people love them but they dont have the love or heritage of Gold, Black, Indy, etc. Obviously they are short printed, but the love for them "universally" just isn't there.

What do you think is a better buy Acuna TC Refractor PSA10 or Bowman Chrome Mega Box PSA10? Both seem to be similarly priced.

Just telling it how I see it. There wasn't 2 people in the hobby last night that NEEDED that card. That tells me something.

To me I always look at pop reports...
- 2017 Bowman Mojo Refractor Acuna PSA 10 @ 1099 population
- 2018 Topps Chrome RC Acuna PSA 10 @ 7407 population

The RC logo is more in demand than 1st Bowman especially with new money entering the hobby, but long time collectors, myself included, love 1st Bowman’s. Add in the shiny refractor and its population is 1/7th the 2018 TC RC I think it’s a no brained to go with the Mojo

The camo parallel to me is like the orange in bowman...why are those the colors they chose for such a rarity!? Couldn’t they have gone with something better!?

I've only been collecting for 34 years...

How many more years must I collect to be considered a long time collector?

I hate 1st Bowman's

I had a hobby first a few days ago.

A guy with a checkmark on Twitter, I think he works for MLB, was offering up PSA 10 Update base Acuna's and said he'd accept a discount for any cryptocurrency purchases.

I've been sitting on some bitcoin for quite some time that has seen a big increase. I've tried turning it into cash and ran into problems setting up the separate bank account, so it still sits there. I figured why not, I'm freerolling anyway and this guy with the blue checkmark isn't going to risk his reputation and fleece me.

It's still coming, and even better bitcoin prices have dropped since we made the deal, which is good for me and not so great for the seller, at least in the short term. I think I paid $232 for it shipped at the price we quoted at the time.

I was comparing the Refractor TC to the Bowman 1st Mega Box. Pop very similar as well. TC Ref 1100.
I purchased a Pink refractor TC a while ago mostly because I like the color on that card. But also the pop is 464. Which is half of the refractor.

Lol, you’ve got to be loving the new money driving up RC’s to the 1st Bowman pricing levels!! I always buy some Topps Chrome every year and I’m glad it’s finally overtaken Paper Flagship.

Cool and interesting. Ive been seeing this more and more on IG as well. People willing to accept different cryptos for their cards. Im interested to see how these worlds will collide. As the new, young faces come into the hobby...I can see crypto being a player in the hobby. Obviously cash, cards, Paypal, etc wont go away, but crypto could be an interesting, early play if you truly believe in it.

I’m not super into it- don’t have any, actually, but I’m interested in how the BITC market plays- I think there may be a significant buying opportunity soon. It shot up way too quickly this year and is due for quite a correction. I do think it’s a legitimate store of value but there’s some volatility to be sorted out.

I've been yelling in this thread for almost 3 years that his Topps Chrome stuff was undervalued.

How does the baseball hobby feel about the TC Prizm Refractors vs. TC Refractor?
Is it like a red to a red wave?

It's the opposite of that situation actually. People pay more for the prism ref. They are rarer, but not sure by how much..

From an article by Mark Bowman

THE RETURN OF RONALD

Braves manager Brian Snitker hinted that Ronald Acuña Jr. could return to the lineup for Friday night’s series opener against the D-backs at Truist Park.

But let’s be honest if you can get a bat down is that the best play for a long term hold?

For what a bat down costs I think I’d rather go after a base TC RC Auto Acuna... bat down will be iconic, but 1st Bowman/RC TC Autos will always win me over vs SP/SSP’s, especially when the cards aren’t marked SP/SSP, you just have to know they are. Having to explain to someone not in the hobby why bat down costs more than an autographed RC is what drives my decision making on that.

I don't imagine this will be a popular opinion shared by others but I see the logic in it.

Trends change. It wasn't long ago when Flagship wasn't worth jack. If that trend returns in 7 or so years I agree that the Chrome Auto will be bulletproof to that changing tide. But that's a heck of a long way out for a purchase that will almost certainly get sold long before that possibility presents itself.

Not exactly sure why, but the refractor and prism sell for almost the same amount for Acuna.

I really want a prism as it’s my favorite parallel apart from the numbered stuff. I’ve got 2 refractors, maybe I’ll sell one and buy the prism.

That’s funny, talking BGS 9.5 just before the season you could get a TC refractor Auto /499 for about $1200-1500. They are now $2500. But the bat down was 1500-1800 depending on sub grades. Now they are 2K.
