When is the players union going to stand up and demand that the regular season be shortened in order to keep players healthy.

It's getting to the point that the NBA champion is simply going to be the last healthy team....

[QUOTE=Grizzkid12;17218040]So many overreactions here on the Murray injury.

He is great in a bubble (literally and figuratively) but this team can still win and be a top 4 seed without him

They will likely miss his scoring in the playoffs when you need a big bucket or a guy to go on a run, but saying this team is toast without him is just sill

As soon as the players agree to take a pay cut because of the fewer amount of games

Ouch for Murray. Not just being injured but an effing ACL.

I'm not too high on the Nugs in the Playoffs anyway but this could be a season where Jokic gets the MVP and they're bounced from the Playoffs.

Orrrrrr Jokic goes on a tear from here and proves he's been the MVP all season (which he has).

Embiid has missed 17 games or something. You can't pay that.

Right now it's absolutely in his hands to leave no doubt about it.

If he can keep the team afloat in the 4 or 5 seed then they can just hand it to him as soon as the regular season wraps up.

It's only if they really fall off and drop to 7 that it becomes too hard to overlook team record.

Right now, Jokic has played in 34 games in which his team has won (out of 54 total games played).

Embiid has played in 28 games in which his team has won, (out of 36 total games). Meaning that Philly has only lost 8 games in which Embiid has played.

*If* that gets to the point where Embiid has played in as many wins as Jokic, despite playing far fewer game, the scale tips to Embiid. But that would mean that Denver would have to crater, while Philly takes off and goes on a big run the rest of the way. It's possible, but a lot has to go right for Embiid for that to happen.

Pretty sure the pandemic clause in everyone's contract allows the team to pro-rate, they sure as hell did it last year.

He’s the second best player on the team and a playoff gamer that can get his own bucket against anyone. They will miss his scoring regardless of circumstance.

There’s little room for injury in today’s NBA with the field so wide open, but maybe my definition of “they’re toast” is different than yours. If they’re playing for a playoff spot, then yeah, they’ll be fine. But they’re a second round exit at best now and have no shot at a Finals appearance. Before Murray went down I would’ve said they can at least make it a series against anyone.

I'm sure that there are plenty of players would happily take a 25% pay cut if the regular season was reduced to 60-65 games.

Alpaca was 26/6/5 last year in the bubble.

3 games over 40 vs. Utah, and they needed all of them to advance.

I just don't see how Denver overcomes this kind of loss in the playoffs. Not unless MPJ (I don't see the IQ or consistency yet) or Gordon goes nuclear.

Doesn't mean they won't still be a solid team... I think the adds of Aaron Gordon and McGee are still and upgrade.

But I'll go on record to say that their NBA title hopes are toast without him.
And this is exactly why I make the argument that CP3 should not be MVP. It takes multiple pieces, not 1, and the pieces are not additive from team to team.

It is the same effect AD had for LeBron last year and this year.

The difference is no team has improved as much as the Suns.

Joking big year results in the same record as last year.
No one is making a big difference except Mitchell and Cp3.

The Hawks now have 30 wins, after they almost let the Raptors take it from them.
30-25 and maintained their 2 game lead on the Heat for the 4th seed.

16-5 since Nate took over, and they're still not 100% with some key players missing. I don't think anyone expected this team to even make the playoffs if we dig up the offseason thread.

Still plenty of games though, and the difference between #4 to missing the playoffs is 4 games but nice to see them having fun out there.

Also nice to see the Lakers winning plenty of games without Lebron and AD.

17 more games to go. Really tough next ten

Bucks, Pacers, Magic, Knicks, Heat, Bucks, Pistons, 76’ers, 76’ers, Bulls. I think they need to take 1 of 2 from 76'ers and Bucks.

Dig it up. Most people thought they would be a Playoff team.

Yea, that's fair on the "they're toast" definition.

I honestly didn't really think they would come out of the West with Murray and don't feel any different now. However I definitely could see them winning 1 or 2 rounds with or without him.

He's obviously very good but him being out will give more opportunities and usage to Joker, MPJ, Barton & Aaron Gordon who are all more than capable.

MPJ, Barton & Gordon also are all about that Dr. Jekly/Mr. Hyde basketball Murray tends to play, so all they need is for one of them to come out hot each game and they will get the production they are losing without Murray IMO

Huerter and bobo killed us tonight. Thought we might still a win with all the injures you guys have but no dice lol. Nice push and the end but too little too late. Been a common theme this year. We always seem to dig ourselves a hole and fight like crazy and come up short.

I have to ask, is it just me or doesn’t Capela have a weird shaped body? I swear it looks like he’s lanky with a potbelly lol. Regardless he’s a handful in the paint

Tough schedule ahead, they’re far from safe, no thanks to early season dissension but Nate has them playing well. They do have a soft ass 4 game schedule to finish the season though.

Giannis BFF has been flying high like a Hawk these past few games- sorry couldn’t resist.

Two huge shots in a row in the Celtics-Blazers game, Tatum with a tough three to 'ice' the game only for Powell to hit a deeeep one and make it interesting again. Then Smart lived up to his name and missed the second free throw since Portland had no timeouts left and had to heave the length of the court.

Huge win for Boston tonight now making it 4 in a row and 8 of their last 11. It also helps that Miami,Charlotte and Indiana all lost their games as well. It’s good to see that they’re finally starting to play consistently as a team, next up is the Lakers on Thursday night.
