I'm worried that the alien on Craola's Smith card prints won't print well on the actual cards (looks a bit blurry) but if it does his set has a lot of potential.

Yet another day without Delino DeShields.

Ozzie: CRAOLA continues to move in the right direction. Apparently Ozzie and Ripken aren't popular with baseball card collectors in 2021.

Larussa: If we're going by impact on baseball and publicity, Larussa should get a card. I actually think it looks okay. It's classy and brings me back to, what, 1972? There's way way way too much going on in the border, but Mister Cartoon can't help himself.

Gooden: The picture is a retread, but it's perfect for the artist's style, so she had to use it. I'm imagining Claw Money at Shea in 1985, not paying attention to the game but gawking at people in the crowd and chugging beer. Her set is cohesive so far: keep wearing a polka dot dress to the sausage party.

I think there have been instances of topps now cards where the number of parallel options were greater than the actual PR of the card.

In your example, that would mean there would be more APs (51) than foils (50), and zero base cards.
Or maybe topps will just release a few foils, and make the rest base cards..

One thing's for sure, the foil chasers and under msrp market flooders will never allow that to happen.

that gooden is insulting.

it was awesome in 1985 when Donruss did it.
it was a nice Topps throwback in 2015.
it was insulting that it cost $20 in 2020.
it is ludacris that they allowed it for another $20 in 2021.

I believe that in this hypothetical, there would still be 50 base cards. The foils do not count towards the PR, as people who receive foils also receive the base version.

It's been so long since I've gotten a foil I forgot it was in addition to the base card..

I wonder if in a case of a PR of 50, some buyers would get multiple foils? Not that it really matters too much since nothing will print that low, but interesting to think about

Do you think the ball being ripped to shreds by Gooden's 'claw' is redeeming in any way?

The no logo hat is hilarious (not in a good way though). I like the card OK actually, think the play on the 2008 card design is the best part, am definitely NOT buying. No connection to anything I care about.

I'm sort of liking Greg CRAOLA Simkins cards for now. I don't think they are great, but I am still in for now. It is fun to see 2016 [2015 whoops] design and a new monster that we can anticipate on future cards. It's like the little black monster's rookie card. [comic term would be 1st appearance? that's still a thing, right?]

Looking at Claws Gooden I just noticed how prominent the Budweiser logo is on the jumbotron in the outfield. Does Topps usually try to dance around sponsors that are that clearly in the photograph? I feel like they often will put the outfield a tad out of focus to make the player standout, but maybe also to cut down on full free promotion for stadium sponsors?
