So I've been watchin the 90s shaq market for past few months and noticed some things

-his higher end inserts like noyz boyz, 96 thrill seekers and takeit2.net are goin up very fast

-97 golden touch is getting more eyes/watchers every time I see one pop up

-the niche high end cards like raise the roof/100 have been pretty stagnant past 3 months

-there's a 97 embossed refractor/74 bgs 8 up for 10k obo will be interesting to see what it
goes for because that's a legit grail card

-hobby favorite 96 big men on court gets snatched up like in an hour if listed around 100$ and in good shape, I know bc I see one then check on my lunch break at work and it's always gone

-past month I've picked up a 96 court masters and a 97 finest gold refractor/289 bc they're still
priced low and don't really seem to pop up esp in good condition

I think his collector base is growing becuase he's top 10 all time/played with kobe/is likebale etc

His rarer stuff seems to be getting more attention so I guess we'll see what the next 3 months looks like

Just went through my collection and I found 18 Topps Gold $$$. I have hundreds of other shaq rookies including Topps so I will likely be selling some soon on here. The golds aren’t for sale though.

How does one come across 18 of those, singles purchased over time? Thanks for not flooding the market

Shaq has always been my favorite player so I was buying shaq rookies in bulk from retired dealers and other eBay sellers for cheap back in the day when nobody really wanted them. I regret not buying any beam teams though. I also regret not buying more Kobe and lebron rookies back when they were dirt cheap. I’m happy to see Shaq finally getting some love though. I hope it continues and it’s not just a temporary hype train.

Anyone else notice the 1997 Skybox E-X2001 JAMBALAYA PSA 8 that went for $4,950 last night? Mighty impressive... Only 18 of them ever been graded by PSA, Pack Pull Odds 1:720 just to get one.

I saw that the finest embossed refractor that was up for awhile either ended or was sold. I considered taking a shot at it for awhile, but I wasn't sure if I could put up with the greening for that kind of money.

Forgive me if I missed this...what is the current view of the 1992 Magic’s all rookie Shaq? Back in the day, it seemed that one was #2 to the beam team. Now where does it sit in the hierarchy?

If you’re just talking straight raw cost then it’s going to be top 5 still.

Beam team, Topps archive, Topps gold, draft redemption #A, Magic all rookie.

The eBay seller just has an error in card attributes. They also sold multiple of them. New listers on eBay don't have multiple Shaq refractors from 1993 Topps laying around. Plus if anyone did mistakenly list a Shaq 1993 refractor on eBay for $60, it would be bought in about 2 minutes max after it listed.

They are hard to tell, but that card is much duller than a refractor image taken by a camera, scanner, etc...

Thanks for this. Beam Team price has flown away on me, so looking into what’s next, with an eye on the nostalgia of my youth.

The reason why Shaq cards are affordable are there are soo many different cards produced during his rookie year. I have 25 different one's from 1992 and about 10 different one's at PSA. It is hard to have high value on Shaq's with the high print runs and so many different types.

Even the Beam Team has a pretty high print run. Right now on eBay there are well over 100 Shaq Beam Team 1992 #21 available. Might be pushing 150 cards. Shaq cards keep on being hyped up and then crash. Happened twice already in the past year. Specifically with the Topps Gold versions. I have about 10 Topps Gold Shaqs myself at PSA right now...

The only Shaqs that I have on hand right now are one's that couldn't grade PSA 9 and above that are in toploaders, a PSA 9 Fleer Ultra All-Rookies, and a PSA 9 Fleer Ultra Rejector. I should have sold the two PSA 9's when the were going for $120 each, but I pack pulled them when I was younger and they have sentimental meaning for me.

I hear ya man only 2 shaqs i have right now is his 97 finest gold refractor/289 and his 97 big men on court , got em pretty cheap and like others have said the nostalgia and love for 90s basketball. I think Shaq rookies do get overhyped/overpumped BC of the junk era for sure

Which is why grading is important. Doesn’t matter if there are 50,000 upper deck Shaq rookies if only 400-500 are gem mint.

So Zion should have about a tenth of the value of Shaq if you're basing it on how many and how many different cards are made of them?

Looks to be a the green refractor parallel, minus the refractor.

Yesterday I was going through a box with misc items in it. I found a Shaq 2012 Select Silver Prizm in it. They've been going for $150+ and last nite one went for $250. Nice little find for sure!
