This is like the exact opposite of the Joey Votto argument.

Yeah, he's got a 155 OPS+, but he doesn't walk enough!

The Padres did Fernando Tatis right by not playing that stupid service time game with him in 2018. If any team deserves their shot it's the Padres.
I’m not scoffing at them. It’s just a big risk in a small Market. And they spent a lot of prospect capital to MAYBE get in the playoffs.

As for tatis, the padres need to get that long term deal to justify not using the Bryant rule to add a year of service time. The white Sox were smart and signed Jimenez and Robert before they debuted.
