I hold 2 cards out for you. You get to pick one.

Would you rather have a card that looks like a 10, in a PSA 9 holder? Or a card that looks like a 9, in a PSA 10 holder?

I would take the 10 in a PSA 9 holder all day long because when the dust has settled and we finally get a TPG that grades properly, my REAL 10 will be worth a ton more than a fake 10. Beyond the resale value, I'd rather have the better condition card. I don't buy labels.

Why is PSA given so many passes on such a bad job?

In reality, the corners look more like "7" corners, so you're probably looking at a card with an overall "technical" unqualified grade of a 5. That means it's only graded about 3 grades too high.
I'm not saying THAT PARTICULAR card was a 10 in other places, I'm saying if a card is a 10 other than the centering it can be a straight 8. That PARTICULAR card looks like a piece of crap to me, I was just giving her an example of why a card with that centering could pull an 8.

Okay, but that makes no sense given the context. Why post your response to a picture of a card that has nothing to do with your argument? Also, a 10 with that centering still isn't an 8.

As for the 60/40 centering discussion, I don't agree with you there either. How can you have two PSA 10s -- one with 50/50 centering and the other with 60/40 centering? One should either be a 9.5 or, given that that grade is not available due to myopic policymaking, the other, a 10.5. There should not be a "range" of grades for a PSA 10. It's not like lower grades where there is variance between the whole and half-numbered intervals. It's the top grade. Nothing should rate higher. That's why the 60/40 argument for a PSA 10 is totally bogus to me. Every time I see it, it makes me realize how much its advocate is a mentally incarcerated member of TPG groupthink incorporated. It's pure sophistry designed to put money in the pockets of favored submitters and the occasional stiff (you, me) who gets one of the dumb graders every blue moon.

Perhaps you are unfamiliar with cking.

As to your other points, you're free to disagree with policies and practices and rage against whatever grading machine you'd like to. I think the entire idea of collecting sports cards is absurd and grading them is just another level of silliness on top of that. I'd urge you to not lose sleep over such things.

Then why are you here? You might as well go to a forum where the subject is chainsaws and talk about how much you enjoy hugging trees.

Why am I on a sports cards forum when I think collecting cards is ridiculous?

Is it? Right edge is hard to see but from the pic to the curved corner distance is close on both sides. Unless you don’t mean centering, then I am missing som.
Shadow on right throws the visuals off.

money. And existing PSA slab owners (myself included) have to keep pumping them up.

Compare the right corners to the left corners.
