Default 1993-94 Stadium Club Beam Team Members Only “Gold Stamp”

Looking for advice here, I have the 1993-94 Stadium Club Members Only Series 1 set. The beam team set in this has a gold stamp rather than the text “Members Only” in the foil. There just isn’t many sales records of these and I’m trying to figure how to sell the set. I also view every listing for “1993-94 beam team members only” looking for mislabeled versions. I have searched numerous BO posts for this topic coming up before, but wasn’t able to find anything.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/1993-Stadiu....m46890.l49292

I believe BGS is the only grader of the error/variation and there has only been 1 set graded. (22) Jordan’s, but everyone else has 1-3 total graded.

I doubt people are regularly looking for these which makes me think they could sit forever.

Am I wrong about this? Are there collectors looking for these or should I consign them through PWCC that has a large audience? Throw them up on BO? Hold on to them till the next bubble happens in 20 years?

PS my set would likely average a 7 if graded. So I’m not going to get a premium for mint like the Jordan PWCC sold, but I’ll have the 2nd recorded set.

Thanks in advance for the advice.

I don't think a lot of people know about them, but I can confirm PSA does not recognize these cards, only Beckett does.

I came across one of these by chance and picked it up raw years ago, I’d be interested to know how many are out there.

What's interesting about those...those appear to have the same stamp used during the 92/93 Members Only parallels. I'm curious if these stamped versions were the first run of Member's Only cards, but the Topps team decided to change up the Members Only insignia at some point early on. Thus these stamp copies were leaked from preproduction or back door'ed. It's certainly not the only Topps issue with features not normally meant for the masses in the hobby.

My set was in the series 1 members only set. The Super Teams insert set in my possession features the same stamp, and same with the base set. Only the more common Beam Teams has a different presentation for members only.

Makes me think that the still sealed sets could contain more of these.

However, it’s possible that they back doored more popular players such as Jordan.

That's very interesting! I'd love to come across a set of these sealed! Like a fool, I'd open them.

Wouldn’t know if you have the error until you open it.

Schroedingers cat? Neither the error or the regular version.

How'd you go with the set? I'm chasing the pippen if you want to part with it! It's the final one I need for all of the Pippen Member's Only

The error will probably be worth quite a bit more in a couple years, once the dust settles. Intrinsic rarity as opposed to extrinsic (grade in a slab), as definer of value in mass-produced sets.

Already in the narrow band of 90s errors that add value (foil color variation/different foil stamp) because they grade out well. An important distinction in the years before low-numbered serial parallels, which occupied the scarcity real estate from late 90s on.

It's not in PSA's interest to grade them, as they want grade itself to be the dominant value definer. See their profit model, based on high grades assigned to high value cards. Beckett has graded a little too widely (see Fleer backdoors with added serial numbers). At this point, to my understanding, they would authenticate but not assign a grade.

From my reaching out to the various companies on a different card, look for CSG to set the standard--maybe with the parent company they see the hobby in a broader context. I do know they will authenticate and grade with sub grades, with notation of the error on the slab.

Hello everyone! Its been a while since this post has been updated. I have a complete set of the gold stamp members only as well. Might folks know how many of these rare sets there are out there? I’ve seen individual cards for sale but not complete sets. Would it be best to keep raw or authenticate with BGS?

The bubble peaked 2 years ago. We're on the downswing now, so not sure what you mean by the "craziness we're on now".

*edit
Just saw the post date, years ago lol. Oops.
