At one of my stores the kids always try to time their breaks around when the rep will be done stocking. I think they just need to be off the clock. They all call each when one of them sees the rep, perk of the job I guess.

If the rep was the one stocking the product there would be none left for the employees. What most of these stores are doing is now stocking at random times on random days. The rep is stocking everything but sports cards now at most of the stores when he is there.

Some of my stores are doing something similar, the rep stocks some of the sports cards, but they give some to the store to stock later.

It's not some it's literally every single box and pack of sports cards. Unless things have changed the last 2 weeks I know at the most the rep stocks sports cards at 3 of the 10 stores he does. But I would bet it's actually only 1 store.

A bunch of the stores they still hold the product behind customer service even with the "random" restocks. So that way employees will always get first dibs. The stores that don't I don't know. My local store the same 10-15 guys are there 5 days a week. 2 of the guys I've seen a handful of times recently. Was told by 1 of them that 1 day after they had got there stuff that more product was put out after. So really there are a bunch of ways the employees can get it without technically backdooring it if the Excell rep doesn't stock the cards.

Fred meyer? Here in pnw gets as much as target. And they all have 2 limit now, and all behind electronics. 2 months ago I was able to buy tons sealed cello boxes of prizm and hoops premium.

I didn't say you would get anything. But its the only time limits are in place. Not enough stock.

Default My rolling Target stock thread

First time seeing people start to gather for a “potential” stock this morning at Walmart. Don’t usually stop by Wed AM so not sure if this is normal behavior or in anticipation of Prizm or something big and they aren’t taking the chance on missing out

Unless the rules have changed, Target does not let employees buy off the shelf until the product has been on the shelf for at least 30 mins......no way any kind of cards make it 30 minutes on the shelves.

Don't know if the swarm hit yet, but Langhorne PA has Optic Football, Donruss Basketball, Prizm Soccer, Topps baseball and an S load of Pokémon, all behind the guest services. 2 per sport, no idea on the rationing of the Pokémon but the guy in front of me had a stack. You're welcome.

on Monday Scheels had an endcap full of Series 1 blasters....priced at $29.99!

Curious how they are allowed mark it up like that.

This is definitely happening. I asked an MJ Holdings rep (at Target...) if there were any cards. She told me there were 10 boxes of cards just sitting in the back of the store.

Target's new policy has it's pros and cons but end of day all it is doing is:

1) "high demand" - minimizing the number of pissed off customers who complain about not being able to buy cards.

2) "safety" - they are tired of flippers and brokebois without jobs from crowding around sitting around in the card aisle in their stores all day, every day.

Also the "$19.99 and up" restriction is strange, so vendors will only stock hangers and cello packs now? And nothing is stopping them from handing off blasters/megas to their regular "customers" (who bribe them) and employees.

This may just be me waving the white flag, but I don’t really get mad at Target employees or vendors buying the stock. The stock is going to be wiped out anyways. If they were taking from collectors, ok that’s bad. But all they would be doing is stealing profit from the flippers.

Shoot, I’m not only impressed but would hire vendors who didn’t buy the stock (or tip people off). That shows me integrity + trust which you can’t teach. At this point, vendors would have been stocking product that is worth 3-5x more than the price for over a year. Millions in profit.

My rep told me about a year ago that excell tried to screen out people that collect or have kids who collect etc through the interview process. Trying to weed out the people who only wanted the job for access to the product. Probably not easy today as mainstream as this has gone.

At one of the local targets out here in orange county, you have to stand in line before the store opens every day to get placed in a virtual line. Then they will contact you to come back when and if the rep stops by to fill the shelves. There is an employee manning the aisle at all times checking for your virtual line notification. Found out about it today when i asked why i couldn't just buy what I saw on the shelf after months of not finding anything.

Oh well. my 8-5 prevents me from ever getting product I guess.

You’re more responsible than i am. I’m on the ask for forgiveness track being late as often as i am... with rarely anything to show for it too

I was tempted for a split second to just wait it out at my local Walmart with the one other guy but i couldn’t be THAT guy

I think they screen them out before the interview process too - last year in the summer I submitted my resume. My resume has a lot of work in sports (minro league baseball/college softball broadcasting), and I never received a follow-up of any sort. A few weeks later there was a guy stocking who said he had just picked up the job part-time, so clearly there had been an opening.

Remember the days on the forum when everyone use to say "friends don't let friends buy retail" when people posted bad retail breaks? Ah the memories.
