This is what makes me really mad when people use the number of social media followers as reasons for including people like this in the Project. I know Topps only cares about the almighty dollar. But guys like Greig Kreindler and Gummy Arts sit this out while someone like this makes a mockery of the set.

Bronson Rickey: I am much more on board with this than his Mattingly. If your gunna go loose at least be a bit more wild with it, and Rickey morphed with a Lambo is much better than just Mattingly repeated. Im not interested in buying it for $20 or $16, but I prefer this direction. I would of maybe bought a card if he put that sketch on there rather than the photoshop though!

Never Crisp: Looks great! Light years better than his Justin Turner, imo. Fun call back to baseball card history, unique player, and a great rendering.

Vides Mantle: Really liking this directing for Vides, his collection is going to look great in the end if he keeps this theme throughout. I love the low res newsprint snap shots and the unorthodox scale he is utilizing. I personally dont feel the players are lost at all with the crowd shots, they have thick black outlines after all. I also love how his illustration appears like a acetate overlay onto the existing newsprint. Its all very niche reasons to enjoy the card, but im cool with that. Unfortunately I dont care about the Yankees or Mantle enough to want to buy these cards at full price though.

If Vides starts venturing into other teams and players outside of the Bronx I may be interested in collecting it.

As stated earlier, this may be my favorite Efdot card yet. It has pretty much everything I'm looking for (personally meaningful player, creativity, visual appeal, understanding of baseball history, fun, good use of colors, balance). It's really a brilliantly done card.

Why? Best card of the day, by far. Also, good chance it's the only Coco Crisp in the set.

I understand the Mantle love even though I don't care for the card.

I'd view the player's name as near-sacred, just because of the politics behind it. "Bob" Clemente cards are on the same level as Cap Anson cards.

I was reminded of this while reading in Dynastic, Bombastic, Fantastic about Charlie Finley's insistence on renaming Vida Blue as "True" Blue. Thankfully, Vida stood his ground.
