Still holding 2 sealed boxes.

Sales:
$1,400 - 2 boxes locally to a card friend several months back. $1,400($700 per).
$1,500 - Salah 1/1.
$6,700 – 2 Fati PSA 10’s & 1 Haaland PSA 10
$500~ - Random single sales
Total sales =$7,000~(That’s minus eBay fees and income taxes I’ll end up paying)

Grand totals = $7,000-$4,850 = $2,150 profit

So in the end I have a $2,150 after fee & tax profit, 1 PSA 10 Haaland, 1 PSA 10 Fati, 2 Sealed boxes, 1 complete set(1-100 with all variations & FS) and the singles that are all at PSA being graded(which I’ll still have to pay the grading fees on).

A long way of saying a few things:

1. I should have bought 100k worth of Sapphire. I had the chance(everyone did).

2. 2nd best “card investment” I have made in the past 5 months right behind TopShot.

Love this set or hate it, if your goal is to make money selling cards(and get to keep some nice looking, high value cards in the process), you should have bought this set.

Here is my original Topps invoice. It is crazy to think I have done nothing with the product other than to set it in my safe the day it arrived, and I can almost make the same amount as you. Just give me a few days. Of course I dont have any graded or base cards either.

DANG!!! I had one box and thankfully got a Haaland out of it. Graded a BGS 9.5 so I still feel I did better than keeping it sealed.

You can make 20k(minus taxes and fees of course...) off of 2 boxes? I still have 2...so let me know where you're getting 10k per as I'd like to sell for that as well .

But yes, it was a good buy all the way up to...I guess 1,500~. Could still make a couple hundred per box after taxes and fees(assuming you're selling for 2k per).

My question is what they will cost next year. I hardly think they will be charging 80 dollars a box anymore.

We are definitely in "leave it sealed" territory now. I would sell at 2k before ripping, and it's not even tempting. I wont sell at 2k though, because I think these will go up much further in value

I don't see any reason to open with it this high either, beyond more money than sense(I'm guilty of being "that guy" often...). You'd have to get lucky and do a lot of work(see my above posts...) to "break even".

I'd say it's a minor miracle that I still manage to have 2 sealed boxes at home. First time since 15/16 Cup cases that I fought the urge this long .

Depends on where you "got in" at and what you would do with the money. Personally, I would hedge my bet just a tad. Id probably sell 2-3 just to cover my costs and have a little cash flow.

First of all congrats!! I can't see a rise to 3k in a week as this last rise was strictly based on Haaland. In order for the next jump to occur it needs some other type of catalyst. A surge in single prices?? A strong Fati return?? Haaland scoring 10 goals for Norway?? I don't know what it could be so I guess the question is whether to take some profits or just bury it in your house for another year. That's up to you. If it was me I would rip half and store half but then again I have no self control. GL on your decision

Start at $2k and incremental increase subsequent boxes. $2k, $2.1k, $2.2k, etc...

Or, just hold until the Summer.

Whatever you do, and you probably know this already, don't flood the market with all 22, lol.

I now own about 25 sapphire cards, and most if not all have vertical print lines to some degree. I think I saw someone else in this thread note they still got 10s on some sapphire cards with print lines - I'm curious if anybody else has any experience with how PSA has been treating them. Has anyone submitted sapphire to PSA and gotten their results back yet?

Assuming you got some around 200-300(or less), I would sell a handful at most around 2k a pop and hang onto the rest. Do the same around 2500, 3000, and up.

I have a box of 2006 World Cup that I’m really struggling to keep sealed - for no reason other than I love the rip and the chase for those money cards! In that case, it’s obviously Messi and CR7.

I’ve holding whilst value increases but it’s getting harder. Am thinking about making the box available for trade for 2/3 boxes of Sapphire (depending on the respective values at the time) and then I’d probably keep a box sealed and open another to hunt for Haaland/Fati.

What’s people’s thoughts on this as a trade in general? Worth it?
