Default Tracking Shows "Delivered." Did not receive.

Guys, I'm the buyer in this scenario. I purchased a card and the tracking shows that it was delivered. I never received the card. I gave it another two weeks since the tracking stated "delivered," but still nothing. Fortunately, it is not an expensive card.

This happened one other time years ago. eBay took care of the buyer and the seller (me). I'm uncertain if the process or policies have changed.

Do I have to open a case?

Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.

You should open a case....the seller will provide the tracking that shows "delivered", and he will win the case. But, if you open the case, there is a chance that eBay will refund you out of their slush fund. If you don't at least open a case, there is no chance. It's also possible that the seller would refund you, but I wouldn't count on that.

Sometimes it shows up in the mail in the next day or so. The post office workers have a track record to scan packages as delivered to meet the delivery timeframes. If it doesn't show up in a couple of days, open up a missing package case. That may help. Good luck with your situation.

Open a case, eBay is actually not holding Seller funds in these situations and will probably refund you if it doesn't eventually show

Try to get Advanced tracking thru the Post office.

It will give you the exact location of the package every time it moved anywhere.

Should also show the exact location on google maps of where the package was delivered.

Update: I opened a case and eBay told me to pound sand. I've been on eBay for over 15 years. First time I've made a claim like this. 100% positive feedback as buyer/seller. They did say I could appeal it. Not an expensive card. I can't believe eBay didn't cover it.

Here's the real question: What happens if this occurs with an expensive card??? I'd be pissed. Well, I suppose an expensive card would have been insured and certainly the insurance claim process with USPS would be wonderfully efficient...

You can't dispute "Delivered." eBay will see that as case closed. You should ask your neighbors, or ask your carrier. If I was selling an expensive card, signature required and insured.

Good point on the signature required. I wasn't thinking. Thank you.

Does the tracking match your zip code?

buddy - did you go to the post office and get a GPS tracking to show where the package was delivered/scanned? If it wasn't delivered to your house, then you can at least use that to show ebay it was delivered / scanned at a different address.

You should have done this on day one when the package was delivered and you didn't have it in your hand. It gives you an opportunity to go to the vicinity and knock on some doors .

I had a 5k insured package delivered to my mailbox recently. Signature required. It's a lock and key community mailbox. Tracking said that it was signed by me. Luckily, it was in my mailbox and not my neighbor's, but I went to our post office and talked to them about it. Hypothetically, if the package was delivered and "signed by me", I'd have no recourse to collect insurance.

Update: I appealed and eBay refunded me.

In other news, I have two other cards that show "delivered" on Thursday. I do not have them. Maybe it's time to stop buying online. I'm not going to keep asking eBay for refunds. Until a few weeks ago, I've never had an issue.

Guess what arrived two days ago?

Question: How do I get eBay their money back?

This is not true. In the eyes of eBay when tracking says delivered they consider it delivered. This has nothing to do with eBay and everything to do with you're post office at this point. I've seen it happen where the mail man is sleeping on the job scans you're package and gives it to the wrong person or puts it in the wrong mailbox.

Contact you're local mail post wether it's USPS or CPC. And file ASAP. They will give you are hard time. Also the seller must also get involved and report this. Ask for a case number so everything is recorded and on file.

Lol I didn't read this. Congrats you got lucky. I went through something similar with a high end card. Almost wasn't covered. Enjoy the card.

Cheers

As both the seller and the buyer, I've had packages show as "delivered" that didn't show up until the next day within the last month.

Couple days ago, I had an eBay package that says "Delivered, Left At Garage" I asked my brother who received a package, but says he didn't get anything else. So I checked the mailbox, it was there so whatever USPS says, it may not be true. I just sold a high dollar card, it went to UPS signature required. Not risking with USPS shipping.

This blog post by USPS answers a lot of questions...

https://www.uspsoig.gov/blog/scanning-issues-persist

If packages are now showing up weeks later then there's just too much mail/not enough staff these days and, once a package is scanned as delivered, it's piled at the dock with the rest of the mail until someone gets around to the actual delivery.

I wouldn't wait weeks though to get answers. You can easily start a case with USPS online using the "Where's my mail" web form. The longer you wait, the more likely it is that a package will be permanently lost in the shuffle.

This just happened to me. Mail already came, and then at 7:40 pm I get an email from ebay saying my package was delivered. I'm hoping it comes tomorrow, but this is super annoying.
