For players that will have long term collector demand, like Messi & Ronaldo, I wouldn't be surprised if we see their sapphire base cards in a PSA 10 eclipse $1,000 within 6 months.

Now if only Topps would get rid of chump and sticker autos from sapphire! Hopefully update sapphire was so last minute it was just a one time sticker dump. My point is if you want this to be your pinnacle, which I agree it should be, then take out the awful auto subjects and never stickers again

I'm expecting these to hit $3000-3500 per box. Consider that 2018 Topps Sapphire Baseball is selling for $5500. There are puts and takes. With baseball, you get 3 autos. So, there should be a discount, but part of that is offset by soccer being more popular than baseball. $4K probably isn't out of the realm of possibility.

Still can't believe I paid $2.50 per card from someone on here. Probably one of the best buys in my entire life. I think it was 2-3 weeks after they came out.

People are really sleeping on the rookies of the other rookies, too. Nuno Tavares, Zlatko, Tete and Koita all could explode, too. Plus, first Sapphire of Ballon d’Or winners like Modric and Lewandowski. And, Messi and Ronaldo are close to retirement so they are unlikely to have many more Sapphires after this. $4k seems conservative. No reason these won’t surpass baseball and reach $6-7k. Especially when Haaland goes off in WC qualifying.

So, how will people value the 2nd year sapphire when it drops in two months??
Hopefully we see Bundesliga Sapphire also next month of whenever that drops.

Sapphire is sapphire, it will always hold nice value. But, outside of a major rookie amplifying the product (like a LeBron in 2003 Topps Chrome), it will always go for less than 2019-20. First year premiums are a real thing. If you need evidence, check first year (2017) Topps chrome soccer card values vs. 2018 and 2019. Way, way higher.

Wait...other people are JUST NOW comparing this to 2018 MLB Sapphire, (when I've been doing it since the beginning), and people are finally coming around to the idea?

Are you guys punking me? Or are you seriously finally starting to see the relationships to demand and popularity here?

Anyone who thinks, (or ever thought), this product would hit a ceiling this early in the game, seriously doesn't know or understand the brand of Sapphire.

What do you guys really think will be worth more in the end...2018 MLB Sapphire or the first UEFA Sapphire? MLB is currently priced at $8,000.

This sapphire will definitely outsell 2018 baseball when all is said and done. I forgot the He Chan Hwang and Sebastian Driussi rookies when I had it at $7k. Plus, first sapphire of Suarez, Aguero, De Bruyne, Neuer, Ramos— all all-time greats. Gem those and you are looking at another $2k in each box even if you don’t hit Haaland.

You're really scraping the barrel with the He Chan Hwang, 25 year old rookie that barely anyone has heard of, whom hasn't scored a goal this season yet.

Sebastian "five goals in two years" Driussi might even be worse.

Money does funny things to people.

Did I mention rookies of Lukas Hradecky, too. And the very first Sapphire cards of Kane, Van Dijk, Salah, and Mane. So many legends in this release and all featured for the first time in Sapphire. Make it $10k per box.

Plus you can sell the empty boxes for another $500-$1k. Make it $11k.

He's obviously messing with people as you can tell by his escalating prices by the hour.

That being said, whether anyone likes it or not, this set has massive wheels to roll on. Topps' idea to offer them to Baseball collectors and introduce them as the "Gateway" product to their soccer line will probably not be quantified for years. If Haaland just keeps doing what he is now (or even slows down a little) he (and this Sapphire RC) will most likely have a much bigger card following than normal.

The reason a '52 Mantle has it's value is exactly why this Haaland can have massive value - The "I once had that item..." and I want it back factor.

"The other guy is really messing with people and escalating this... but this could be a 1952 Mantle situation."

Just peed a little.

Everything in sportscards centers around the 52 Mantle and the principles for why it is so valuable. The fact that this set has more new card collectors than any other soccer release recently (and maybe ever), during probably the largest increase in the soccer card market's audience again maybe ever, will most likely be pretty significant down the road. Prefaced my previous statement with "whether anyone likes it or not" because obviously some clearly do not.

FWIW, I don't pull the comp often but the last card I brought up the Mantle jumped about 15-18x in value before this time last year (read "pre-pandemic"). I'll say the same thing I said then, Good advice is good advice. No card/product will EVER be the 52 Mantle, but that doesn't mean the principles behind it's value should never be brought up ever again.

And I'll add the much needed disclaimer: Obviously I have some of these boxes stashed away. It's really a great product, no reason not to. Like everyone else, wish I had more.

Topps NOW #11 could very well be the 52 Mantle.

Not many people wanted 1952 Topps back in the day. How many wanted Topps #11 a year and a half ago?
