Default Ebayer sent me a blatantly fake '86 Fleer Jabbar :/

This has actually never happened to me. I was supposed to get this:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Kareem-Abdu...72.m2749.l2648

and this POS is what I received. Lol. It may be hard to tell in a pic but this thing is super fake in hand at first glance. Anyone who has ever looked at a real 86 Fleer would know. And it's clearly not even the same card as in the listing (which is probably real). So yeah, this guy either made an honest mistake (veryyy doubtful) or he's a scumbag. Once the case is resolved I'll post his username here. There's no possible way that ebay would side with the seller, right? I've bought hundreds of cards and tens of 86 fleer on ebay, many much more expensive than this, and I've never claimed to have received a fake card. haha

Here’s the fake Jabbar next to a real Alvan Adams:

From what detail I see, it looks real. I haven't seen fakes outside of Barkley and Jordan FWIW.

The Kareem looks less crisp in the side by side. That's all I got.

You said you can see more differences in person, and its not to say the seller is skilled in the 86F fakes (I'd be another that this would be the first I've heard of his being faked, but at this point nothing new suprises me)

Colors I can see are off a little on the back, although I havent looked at a large enough number to know if its consistent or not (and to factor out fading).

Font looks good as does. I can see where the coloration is off for the stats, but looking at the two on COMC I can see where it looks like Kareems stats skew these rows:

I own this set (minus Barkley, Mullins & Wilkins) with the majority of the set raw, except for half a dozen of the key RCs graded by PSA. I also bought a fake Jordan for $10 a few years ago to try and educate myself on the difference between fake and real versions.

To the naked eye it is a little difficult to tell, but once you look at the cards with a magnifier glass, the historical differences jump out. The most obvious one is when looking at the arrow next to 'Premier' on the top right of the card. Originals all have print dots; whereas the fakes are solid.

Like others have mentioned, I have not come across Jabbar fakes up until now and things may have moved on since I looked a few years ago. But, if you have not already do some comparisons under a magnifier glass.

Thanks! Also if you were going to fake a Kareem, why not one with better than eight centering both left right and top bottom. Unless this is just a photocopy of another card, my guess is there's just some off registration with the ink on the back of the card.

After a five second search on eBay I found multiple Kareem counterfeit 86 Fleer cards for sale (listed as Reprint or RP), so I don’t know what everyone here is talking about.

Moreover, they match up with the clearly fake card in the OP.

Guy guy guys.. I am collecting the set. You’ll just have to trust me. This is a blatant fake. It’s not even close.

In fact I’d hesitate to even call it a “fake”... I wouldn’t even give it that much credit. It looks like it was printed at someone’s house. Did you look at the side by side with the real Adams?? Geez, after looking again maybe it IS the same card as is in the listing. I’m not sure why at first glance I assumed it wasn’t.

Looks like the seller has knowingly sold reprints and fakes in the past so yea he scammed you.

Return and leave negative

I stand corrected. Thank you for finding those!

Correct the print dots should look like this. There is a misconception that the arrow is orange but it's actually the same yellow, it's just dotted, like this:

The other key things to look at are

1) crisp print line edges on the name

2) can see some lines in the ball on the back

3) print dot pattern on the blue on the sides but no pattern on the red

Looks like a super legitimate fake. Checks all the fake boxes.

Thanks for posting this image; that is plainly a fake and it is much easier to tell compared to the original photos. Clearly, my information on which cards have / have not been faked from this set is out of date. My apologies if my post came across as doubting you. My bad.

No worries, it was pretty hard to tell from the original photos. But as I said, anyone who has seen any of these cards would know at first glance in person.

It looks fake to me. The front, the color image is extremely grainy. The back looks terrible.
