all 3 today are cool IMO.
Figured Mookie would be more '1969' than '1973' but w/e. Still think it's cool. I'm with TBP, her actual art is immensely better... WTF. I guess that was my same reaction when I saw Bronson's mattingly cuz he actually paints crazy stuff too. CC image is pretty cool. in for the Skee set as BO's resident Hip Hop Head. JK, there are a "few" of us. He literally used two of my top 5 artists of all time's best album covers as inspo. All I need. Now if Don C continues doing what he did on the first card he might be the other set I pursue. I just love the modern use of music mashup in this, but some of you do not. It's all good. |

Nah, not to me. He's killed the two card designs this year so far. He did not do that in 2020. Only the Clemente is as good a card as the two he's dropped in P2021. His 2020 cards were all real awkward (except Roberto) and basically ignored the original card designs. |

fair. I'll concede that his p70 > p2020, but mainly because of the use of card designs which I hadn't noticed was ignored previously [I didnt pay much attention to his p2020 cards].

Questionable photoshop or not, I like the colors and the 70's vibe from it. |

I'm always down for debate! But yeah, he used images of players in 2020 but I did not like what he did with card designs, and in 2021 is 2/2 with nice nods to 2021 and 1959, but doing his cartoon thing! |

I dunno about that, I would say they are rendered in the exact same manner. Other than Jackie and Gooden he recreated the photo used on the cards in 2020. I think maybe you are liking the renderings of Lasorda and CC moreso since he chose more animated photos for both of them (to recreate).

I thought we were getting Blake Acuna today or did topps not feel comfortable without having a Yankee and a Dodger?

I didn't like the rendering on the Trout either. So there's some recency bias. |

3/15 is the date he's given. The other notable date/card combo we know is 3/22 for LT's Gherig. There might be more.

I'd rank the Cartoons:
1) Clemente 2) Lasorda <like a better version of his Bob Gibson> 3) Sabathia <like a better version of his Willie Mays> 4) Rickey I don't think there's a huge difference between the two sets so far, but I agree with Zonk that he's using more exciting player images. And, he's telling a story (to me, maybe not to everyone else) with the Topps designs that he's choosing. |

3/15 has been bandied about for quite a while.

All these Yankees and Dodgers remind me of the Simpsons when Homer goes to space and they're watching a launch and the crew is made up of a mathematician a different kind of mathematician and a statistician.

And, the Dodgers won the WS last year. Mookie deserves a bunch of cards. |

If it keeps up it will eventually drive a portion of the collectors of this set away. Let's see another round or two though. I still think it's wrong that any P2020 artist redoes any player from that set. Blake mentioned doing Mattingly and Rickey Henderson again. Why? How many thousands of players have played baseball?? And I'm sorry but I don't buy the PR argument. Trout yes. But Mattingly and Rickey don't move the needle. Hell, Jo Adell did a high PR. Look at that as an example. Use some newer, younger faces.

The Yankee/Dodger thing is actually comical at this point. And I like the Betts' card.

I could do with a Seager card or two. Thanks for the idea, TBP!
