Stimulus money is key. Definitely going to see a short term spike. I have my eye on a Soto that is the exact amount of our checks. Just waiting on confirmation from my accountant that we qualify. The question will be how long the prices hold after the initial surge.

How much impact will the prospect market have on guys like Soto, Acuna, Tatis and Trout? People are seeing how the prospect market is going wild and will stop focusing on the established stars market (imo). Look at a guy like Michael Harris whose card prices double overnight, or guys like Erick Pena and Luis Matos who have gone from like $90 to $200 in a month. I feel that the hobby is filled with a new crowd that wants a quick payday. For this reason, I believe we will see a stall in most vets as they are seen as the boring blue chips of the market. I'm not saying they are not good buys, but I think the last untapped market is the prospect market and the gamblers from football/basketball are going to come flooding in trying to find the next Soto.

How many 2020 base prospect cards are selling for more than $100/each? A ton. A Soto home run won't double his prices, but apparently a Bobby Witt Jr. home run will send his prices soaring even though they are already high.

The prospect market is no different today than it was in 2018. Prices are just higher.

that is a great question! i stopped collecting prospect inserts in 2008

I disagree in that the market is now filled with gamblers who want to see their cards double overnight. They also don't understand price vs value. I'm curious to see what happens if the prospect market gets really hot (which I think it will) and how that impacts the blue chip cards.

I guess there will be a new prospect every few weeks to jump on.

Soto snuck past the high priced prospect list, probably alot of $$ was going to Aaron Judge while Soto was in the minors.

Yeah, this is why the prospect market is so expensive now. Bayron Lora is like the 11th ranked prospect on his own team and his base auto is $200! Soto was that rare superstar that kind of snuck up on us, and now every other player is being priced so that it doesn't happen again.

Soto was the 15th highest priced prospect BCA going into the 2018 season. Pretty good for someone who only played 32 games the year before due to injury.
