Thanks, Topps, for three great laughs.
One, two, three, four ... five hundred twenty two. I counted 522 laughs, shouldn't you thank them for that?

Also it seems like each card got exactly 172 "Ha"s which is very suspicious, like it doesn't feel like organic laughter -- are you trapped on the set of The Big Bang Theory? Over the course of this thread I have become very concerned about your time and space, Colonel. Is Ken Kesey still alive there? Has Huxley released "The Doors of Perception" where you are yet? Can you find Conrad's Apoco ... er "Heart of Darkness"?

Gonna be hard to de-throne this as my favorite Deion card...maybe next time.

Styles probably wont do a Trout. Pretty sure he will exclusively be doing black players and he's not the type to care about missing out on whatever windfall he would apparently get for making a Trout.

I am kind of surprised Ron English went with Yogi as a garden gnome for his first card.

Sanders didn't even get above 200 PA for the Yankees, but of course that's the team they chose to have him rep for his card.

I can't begin to describe how frustrating it is to have another neat project ruined by such heavy reliance on NY and LA teams.

I fired my adjutant for doing an obvious copy and paste. Which, of course, makes him an ideal pinch hitter for Topps to use in Project 70!

Default A NEW SCREENPLAY by Colonel Kurtz

EXT - COLONEL KURTZ PATIO - DAY

COLONEL KURTZ is gazing at his iPad. His WIFE opens the patio door and places a cup of coffee near Kurtz.

Wife: Colonel, how did you like today's cards?
Colonel: The horror... the horror...
Wife: I thought there were three cards every day.
Colonel: The horror.

I mentioned before that this "hobby" is very rookie card-centic. When is the last time anyone paid more for George Brett's 1977, 1981, or 1991 Topps cards than his 1975 card. Those are the three years that he won the batting title.

So it shouldn't shock us that much.

The counter point to my comment above is the A-Rod card already issued from this set.

At least we're back to more Yankees than Dodgers, the way it should be.

I'm trying really hard over here, but I just cannot get into P70. I had planned on getting some artist sets, but with these first cards, I keep scratching off names. Today I'm really, REALLY disappointed in the Ron English offering.

I also don't like the open ended nature of P70. Without a player checklist, I find myself rudderless and have a hard time getting psyched up for the next releases. Then someone said that there are less than 200 players planned out of 1000+ cards? So it's going to be hundreds of Trout, Acuna, and Tatis cards? Great.

I think I'll take my P70 allowance and fill some holes in my P2020 collection. I regret not getting the Vides set, maybe I'll just grab those.

This couldn't stay under 100 subjects even if Topps had access to the smartest mathematicians on BO.
the first 20 cards of p2020 there was only 2 dupes, only 20 players available. point being topps knows how to stagger the players.

anybody duped in round one will get a minimum of 40 cards.

Pedro and Johnson should have been Expos?

Certainly, Canseco doesn't just "go away" he has so much to share about chandeliers, how dinosaurs were so big, romance, his twin brother signing autographs for him and now big mac bat corkin!

The man certainly knows how entertainment works in today's online world.

Lindor was only holding his Mets jersey, he was still wearing his Cleveland jersey.

INT - TOPP'S HEADQUARTERS - DAY

The CEO is reading a report while seated at desk. His ASSISTANT barges into the office.

Assistant: Chief! Project 70 sales are plummeting!
CEO: Trade Trout to the Yanks!
Assistant: Yes, sir!
CEO: And make every card a foil! And put a frame around them!

No.

FarmKid used the rookie card-centric nature of the hobby as a rationale for the Deion Yankee card.

I was just pointing out that bulk of career and market size seem to be bigger factors than rookie cards.
