My economy shipment was supposed to ship 12/27 and actually shipped 2/3, so at that time they were about 5-6 weeks behind, so I would guess you might be getting close on the 2/5 shipment, another 1-2 weeks.

Hopefully it won't take the full 2 week buffer.
If I had to guess, your 3/2 economy will ship around mid to late April.

Maybe later as the note at the top of their site reminds us that sales have been up 50% since December. If there are a bunch more shipment requests from those sales, delays are going to be even greater.

True, but they added 50 more people, so that should help, right?

I think I know the answer to this (No) - but is there a way to sell “sets” on COMC?

I'm not buying anymore until they ship my cards that I requested to be shipped on 1-26 that was supposed to ship 2-10. I'm assuming sales are gonna slow eventually if shipping times stay this bad.

No, but Tim has discussed the idea in the past

It will hurt things, absolutely. Especially as their ebay name continues to get torn up for hideous shipping times. They owe it to their consignors to do better as well as buyers. Their product right now simply isn't very good.

No. The closest they've come is the Port Sale feature, where you can bundle up to 5,000 cards from one account and sell it as a lot. But it costs $10 to launch a port sale and the buyer still has to pay a minimum of 25 cents per card handling if they want to take physical possession.

There have been talks of trading some ePack sets / subsets as one item. If so, Tim has indicated in the past that this would apply to future sets, not retroactively applied to already existing sets.

I asked this yesterday, but think it got buried by all of the complaints about COMC shipping. So, I will try again:

If you buy an item on COMC that is "Stored Remotely," will it makes its way to COMC over the following 2 months, or will it stay with that note/condition until someone requests it be shipped to them? In other words, if I buy such a card to flip, will someone buying from me 5 months later still see the same warning note? Thanks.

I have bought several cards that were "Item Stored Remotely" and priced at a discount. I do not remember which ones they are in my inventory, but I'm almost certain that at least some of those are now NOT "Item Stored Remotely". The cards were just in my "Ready to Ship" inventory, never for sale, never shipped out, nothing. I can't tell you how long that took. Maybe 1-2-3 months? But those remote cards do make their way to non-remote at some point, at least for me they have.

The only possible exception to that I can think of is when something was processed at the Canadian warehouse. Those might stay there until a buyer asks for it. For those newly processed (those items numbers starting with 88, 89, or 90) if they were sent to Washington, they will eventually end up losing the "stored remotely" designation.

COMC was a great idea and market niche originally, but has since really become stale an lacks innovation IMO. So much potential with in their ecosystem to draw and keep money, but they’ve failed to capitalize and frankly now they are executing their main value of the logistics poorly. I’ll likely pull everything of mine down and close out.

I hear what you are saying and agree with some of it. And another post earlier in this thread noted how "easy" it would be to start a competitor. But, if it were that easy to build a competitor, it would be done already. Sportslots has its place, but it is far from what COMC can offer.
I guess I agree that some of the best of what they offer in logistics is not being executed in an ideal way, but realistically I don't think there's any true competition out there or slated to start in the near future. And perhaps that's the reason why COMC is dropping the ball some, nobody is breathing down their necks.

Just a quick question - do you get charge extra for sending in toploaders when sending in elite category?

If only they would focus on getting their basics back to even average.

Process cards
Ship cards
Pay people who cash out

The eBay mess hamstringed them early last year and that was followed by Covid restrictions in Washington which they have apparently been unable to recover from - despite the sports cards market exploding. What a missed opportunity.

Competition surely would have done something but it's becoming clear that they have no idea how to do this right. They've got the wrong people/person in charge - look at almost any industry and Covid has given them issues. Most places I work with and do business with have somehow managed to adapt and thrive - even the mom and pop places.

Anyone here experienced with Pokemon cards? I was wondering if COMC is a good place to buy/sell/flip Pokemon cards? Just a quick glance at it suggests Pokemon cards might be better suited for eBay or somewhere else.

Once upon a time, years ago, COMC started exploring the idea of selling unopened factory sets and even had some of the veteran sellers send in sets that would help set the foundation for selling these sets, but then it was dropped for reasons yet unexplained. I'd bet dollars to donuts that those sets what were sent in are still in an unmarked office in COMC HQ...

In my experience, Pokemon sells very well on COMC, though a lot of the sales will come through eBay.

On the higher-priced stuff, I try to set my prices in line with Buy It Now's on eBay for a similar item, adjusting for COMC's Buyer's Premium. For example, if my target eBay price is $9.99, I'll list the item on COMC for $8.22. From there person logged in to COMC could offer less than that and their offer will be auto-accepted. If I were to then cash out my credit, I'd wind up with about $6 for the card.

So, if you are willing and able to sell a higher valued Pokemon card (or 1,000 higher valued Pokemon cards) on eBay, you will probably do better listing the card yourself on eBay. OTOH, if the cards are going to be sitting in a box in your garage until the day you die, you're probably better off sending the $2 and up ones to COMC.

It is possible to sell on eBay and also sell on COMC at the same time. One method would be to put all of the cards which you would list for at least $x into a shoebox. Take cards out of the box, list them on eBay, and put those into a different box. Then when the box of prospects is full, send about half of them to COMC.

As for flipping Pokemon, I find that it's hard to get good items at a flippable price. It's much easier to break down collections and submit the beefier items to COMC. Or, at least it was when they still offered Basic processing and processed them on time. This is generally true of all gaming cards.

Even if they do bring back Basic processing, they will still charge 50 cents for "Obscure" cards, which includes any Foreign Language Pokemon cards. If you have non-English cards worth submitting, you're probably just as well off submitting them now as later.

Yeah I’m not saying it would be “easy” or frankly even a good business idea to open a competitor. I assume it’s a lot of overhead and risk. But COMC was the first out of the gate on a lot of this, and when you think about some of the industry developments - digitization of cards, things like the PWCC vault, the trading from e-pack - there is/was an opportunity to creat a more comprehensive experience that would draw and keep money/assets to COMC.

Instead in the time I’ve been a member, I haven’t seen any meaningful revolution of the platform. They’ve opened up their eBay and consignment businesses and shown they don’t have the infrastructure to sustain both sides of their business.

Anyone have a card disappear from your shipment request each time you try? I have a 2018 Soto Silver pack card that disappears each time I click request shipment. Other two cards are still there but this one gone. Its still in my inventory but cannot ship it.

I was looking at a thread on Facebook where the PSA boyz were defending PSA after SGC announced that they've upscaled 20X and barely raised fees. They were all also very opposed to HGA which seems to at least be getting some attention and from what I've seen the HGA holder is bother aesthetically pleasing and appears to be doing okay on values recently.
