You know the card is going to get national news. Why would you photoshop something like this anyway? That makes zero sense. There is no benefit to photoshopping in this situation.

This is good info. Thanks

Unless you F'd up and realized you didn't have a good pic of the card for marketing purposes until AFTER you sent the thing off to the new owner. Still a dumb move. Should have gone with no pic instead.

Interesting for sure.

Was there an actual listing of the card PWCC sold (buyer shared an image?) or do we only have the suspect advertisement images?

PWCC previously sold 5/100, so if that's the actual card in this sale, they have legit photos of that one.

Yup. Some idiot photoshopped it because they didn't have a photo of it.

They do. The actual card is the 005/100. The photoshopped part is just the label.

In the referenced PWCC update, it appears 29/100 (previous Probstein123 listing) was the actual card sold.

PWCC employees must be too busy filming guests ransack the vault, they can't get images of the new submissions.

So it was a BGS 8.5 that sold for 1.2 million and not BGS 8? I am confused

Wow. That didn't take long to make it to the news.

Rovell: Details on the $1 Million Tom Brady Rookie Card Controversy

Quote:
Jesse Craig, PWCC’s Director of Business Development, told The Action Network that he brokered the sale to FitBit CEO James Park and that Park has the card with the original image that was posted by Probstein on eBay.

Because the card was sent directly to Park, and there was only one image of that card that had a glare, Craig said, unbeknownst to him, the marketing department unilaterally decided to photoshop in another image of a Brady championship ticket that one went through PWCC’s hands.

The fact that they cut off the back pic so you can't see the numbering is super suspicious

probably didn't think the card nerds, or whatever i guess we are called, wouldn't pickup on the Serial #.

i don't care much about that stuff, but others do, mad respect to them, they are keeping the hobby honest.

It looks like a deliberate attempt to hide the numbering. Who takes pics like that of any card, let alone a $1M card?

Why even bring photoshop into this? Why photoshop the serial number?

The incompetency shown by PWCC in this case is truly astounding. You sell the most expensive football card ever. You know it's going to be all over the news. And you not only don't show a picture of the actual card that sold, but you photo shop another card into a BGS holder? Absurd.

And don't even get me started on the obscured serial #. Shady is as Shady does.

Confusing, for sure.

It appears PWCC was a middlemen, between the buyer and the Probstein123 BGS 8 (29/100) listing.

In the linked Darren Rovell article, its suggested this BGS 8 might have been bumped to a BGS 8.5, graded on Wednesday.

Have to wait until BGS 8.5 (12856214) pops up to confirm that side of the story.

If I'm not mistaken, if a card receives a "bump" in grade it doesn't get a new BGS serial #. the stats on the card will just change but the graded date won't change, right?

That 8.5 would be a "new" card which would mean someone would have had to break the card out and re-sub (a million dollar risk). Of course, when you're talking this kind of money, PWCC, Probstein, Goldin -all those guys have connections with both grading companies and can do whatever they want basically. Anonymity goes out the door at that point.
