Calling on collectors to boycott retail....will only increase product/profits to flippers. Which will attract more flippers. There will always be people who will not boycott retail (me) and just pay what they must to get what they want. If you cannot afford it or it doesn't make sense, (me and a sports car) then you don't buy it.

There's Opening Day, $20 shipped for a blaster.

"The kids" Yeah some kids collect. Some kids flip. Many kids from the sneaker game came over to cards. "Save some for the kids" is overplayed imo. Same kids who make/buy the bots to scoop up retail. My kids feel bots are "the norm and not illegal" so I should get one to stay competitive. Run that race in Nikes or flip flops? Pass me the flip flops and I'll die poor but with integrity. lol It just hurts me financially and I'm fine with that. How many kids on here? 15%? My card hunting travels are limited to Target but I've only seen 20-50 year olds the past 2+ years in my area.
My nephew plays Pokémon. He knows he has a card worth $170 and is chasing the $300 card.

He’s 9

I've been boycotting retail for a year.
Not because I want to, but because I have no choice. The shelves are empty.
Is my boycott working?

Fenwick estimates the average age of the baseball card collector goes up every year because there aren't many kids acquiring the hobby. Kids still come through the door, but they're more likely to buy Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh, or Magic: The Gathering cards. “Sports have become secondary,” he says.

Pokemon. I have to assume more kids in Pokemon than Baseball. My son is 13 and he collects Baseball. Very popular kid with lots of friends and none of them collect Baseball Cards. I know there's kids that collect... but I think it's far less (sadly) than it was from say when I was a kid (80's).
