Someone in old thread once mentioned KOS.

I jumped in on it.
It has gone up 3.5x since that initial post

Portnoy announced his BUZZ etf. It's alogrithim based using data from the internet. Holdings will change every month by the sounds of it. Curious to see how this goes.

Already booked a grand gain though trading AI earlier in the year and I’m not really expecting a quick turnaround. Of the stocks I am currently “buying on the dip” I probably like PLTR more at $25/sh than AI at $106/sh.

For anyone who was wondering. Top BUZZ holdings are

TWTR 3.5%
DKNG 3.4%
F 3.1%
FB 3%
AMZN 2.9%
AAPL 2.9%
AMD 2.9%
AAL 2.8%
NFLX 2.8%
TSLA 2.8%

So it has exposure to the big companies, not just "meme" stocks.

As Portnoy has said, he knows the internet.

My 3 biggest holdings are DKNG, F and AAPL so it kind of goes with those as well.

Will still likely buy some. I'm sure the IV on this will be pretty high for an ETF so hopefully the share price isn't too high. Would love to have the option to sell calls against the position.

I also have a “set it and forget it” stock account with a group of stocks that I’ve largely been holding since 2008 (Apple, HD, Disney, Intel) and a few that I’ve picked up along the way (Square, Shake Shack, UTZ) that I will probably leave largely untouched.

As for my 401k, I’m not scaling back, but there will come a time when I probably end up moving it all to a target date fund. And I’m not sure I would use 10% as a guide for future earnings, maybe estimate 7% or so in your planning so you aren’t caught short. Eventually we will have a negative year(s) like we did around 2008 which could make a 10% “average” annual return kind of tough over a number of years. 2020 was such a crazy year in that the March crash was deep but the recovery was quick and robust... I’m not sure we can count on that happening again the next crash.

2021 is another crazy year in that gains have continued to be pretty easy to get. Around September 2020, I set a dollar goal for my Roth to have by December 2021 (a goal I thought was a little lofty at the time) and at one point yesterday I was already within about 2% of that goal with 10 months to go in the year. Very crazy market and I am not questioning it at the moment... just taking what is given... but I also think there will come a day when gains will become tougher to come by. Yesterday at one point literally my entire portfolio and list of 30+ stocks I watch was green.

At any rate... it’s been “easy” to make money in the market lately but at some point things will slow down. I think one key as someone mentioned a page or 2 back is to always have a healthy cash balance and targets in mind. That way you can take advantage of deals that can be found on deep red days. With free trading I’ve been “trimming” a lot (basically every day) in increments I would have never done before when I was paying $7 in and out. Free trading has made rebalancing a lot easier and has been an amazing blessing for the small investor.
Yeah the 10% percent was based on “average” returns with some years worse and others better.

The free trading has definitely helped as I don’t have to worry when I’m buying 1 share or 1000 shares. It’s made me more carefree and makes my decision to buy or sell much easier.

As far as having cash on the side, definitely. There have been great bargains with the market this year so far.

Trimmed 15% of my DKNG at $70. First time selling any since building the position in Oct/Nov. Good profit there.

Had about $90 uninvested in my account yesterday so I just threw it on $RKT 25c 3/5 0.86.

Currently up 1,938.37%. $86 to $1,750 in 24 hours. Not too shabby.

Good timing! I toyed with trimming some DKNG and DMYD earlier but didn’t pull the trigger.

Picked up some more AI when it went under $100

Set the order in the morning because I figured the $70 level wouldn’t hold if reached which it didn’t. Little extended up here. Plenty of other companies I could use those funds on. And judging by the end of the day we could see some buying opportunities this week

Added some PSTH, TGT, COST today.

PSTH: We're suppose to get a merger target in Q1 and with Ackman tweeting lately feeling like it's coming. This is in my 'fun' account different than the PSTH I hold in my LTH. I've bought and re-sold numerous times and been having fun with it.

TGT: Added some shares at a $176.50 average. This is strictly to see if we bounce up, thought it sold off too much today on the no guidance and the market turning.

COST: Earnings on Thursday, just kind of seeing where this goes.

Man, tgt had a solid quarter. Why the efffff did they suspend guidance? This isn't the time to do that.

and sold the same amount this morning at $73.50

Probably done with the trimming on this one for now. This position was oversized for me. Curious what investor day brings next week.

Yeah... I’m hesitant to sell what is my top performer on an otherwise down day. I’m kind of viewing DKNG as more of a “forever hold” type stock than something I will swing trade.

I can't disagree with you. My position had gotten to big in terms of my account size so it was time to trim. Felt it was a good time to take some off the table.

Getting a bit of a haircut in the market today! In silver lining news tonight’s the night my bi-weekly 401k contribution posts... so at least I’m getting a bit of a discount there!

Glad I trusted my instincts this morning to close my margin positions. No sense in paying extra for getting beat up.

So I just maxed out my Roth contribution for the year and zeroed out my remaining position in Realty Income Corp (ticker O) to have some cash to play with later in the week.

Thanks for all your posts about Roth IRAs. Found out last year my company allows back door contributions. It’s through paycheck deductions/rollover though so I don’t have immediate access to the funds to take advantage of dips.
