And you're absolutely right, Panini can charge whatever they want if they saw that prices were going for two to three times more in the secondary market. They can do that, but Topps knows that too about their cards and they don't do it. Upper Deck knows that too about their products but they don't charge 2ndary market prices. Card companies traditionaly charge suggest retail based on what it cost to make a product. There is usually a disclaimer from the companies stating that they are not responsible for any future value of the cards. Usually card companies allow the collectors to gain on any potential profit but Panini charges market value. Look at their rewards cards or their Instant cards, everything on their site is based off of market value. You don't see other companies charging more for a particular player when they do on demand cards.

Btw, the price of these FOTL Prizm Soccer boxes are well below the $850 that you said it won't go below. Just admit it, modern cards are way overpriced and people aren't dumb. They finally see it.

1. Are you just talking about soccer or all sports? If you know what to buy, then you are seeing big increases in wax. Contenders Football, 2018 Update, NT Basketball, all the big products are going up.

2. So 2/3 companies are leaving millions of the table for flippers to get a hold of? I don't understand, the MSRP FOTL just to sell out in a second and people got mad. Now Panini is capitalizing and ALLOWING consumers to pick the price they want to buy at. It is a win win. If you are priced out, that is on you.

3. 90% my guess isn't "well-below". I'd argue I actually had a decent guess despite being incorrect. It sold out at $780 fyi

I like borders on base cards - but I think they overdue it here. The layout is very graphic-heavy for me. Lines, bars, angles, ugh....

I at least appreciate it is symmetrical almost always with prizm. I just think they could do with less of the stuff and more of the picture. It's distracting.

And I'm not a "give me a full picture" guy... I think the Kabooms are amazing and the color blasts are great - but they generally have a unified theme across the whole card.

The Panini Gallery shows no RC symbol on Greenwood (as there shouldn't be) but also none on Fabio Silva which I can't work out, yes he has a Panini sticker from Portugal but they don't usually count those otherwise Tariq Lamptey and others wouldn't have an RC symbol (and he has).

Agree with reddragonthe, the base design has too many lines, triangles and bars, I feel like I'm looking at Prizm Marvel Iron Man or something. I'd probably put emergent ahead of base in terms of design too.

It's as brutal as you'd expect with this checklist. Arguably the best cards are the Silver Bamford and Pink Wave Bowen.

The auto cards are really ugly, as well as a terrible checklist. The inserts are also, in the main, pretty naff.

But I do really like the base and parallels, despite some omissions from the checklist. I think each fan of each club could have scrubbed at least five players and replaced with five the fans would actually want, but who knows what goes through Panini's brains when making these selections.

Partaken in my first break and from what I could see, got 12/15 of the base for my team, two hyper and one silver. That's from three boxes. A lot of unnumbered colour comes out of these boxes, as you'd probably expect.

I figure we'll see this being opened by breakers by the case for months to come. No one else will pay $650 for personals.

Now waiting for my biggest break I am in. I'll see what colour I get from that and then spend my hours on eBay and comc. If it's like last year, should be plenty to scoop up for team collectors.

Shoot. That's right. I do this every panini release. And every panini release I'm disappointed because now I have to track hits if I want to figure it out.
