Project70 is farther away than people think. It isn’t launching next week We aren’t recreating old cards like we did in Project 2020

Not sure what I think of this yet but am intrigued by collecting one artist's 20 cards and getting the custom print at the end. Vinny

The rainbow foil editions are cool and inserted into each print run. The artist proof is a money grab. They can charge 299.99 or higher and the bots will get them in seconds, which I can't fault Topps. Interesting to see the starting price point on Topps Project70.

Rainbow Foil editions /70 randomly inserted into each card’s print run. 1/1 Gold Frame edition randomly inserted into each card’s print run. Artist Proof editions /51 featuring a silver frame available for every card. |

The player list isn't limited to just 20 players this time. They can pick any player and any topps design. We will get many artists doing Trout, Griffey, Jeter, Soto, Tatis, Acuna etc.... but I'm excited to see guys like Canseco, Dale Murphy, Ryne Sandberg etc

At $20 a pop, it ain't cheap, just like Project 2020.

I might buy a few here and there, but only if I really like the card. |

More cards up today. Snoop’s looks pretty basic, Griffey didn’t take much work ( my quick look missed how the artist mixed in errors), Lasorda is interesting.

			IMHO, Vinny

You can through my site. I give 5% in rewards on every purchase, and you can use them on P70, or anything else on my site.

People saved a bunch on P2020 using the reward points, (Crown Coins), and I gave away Foils. |

Just posing my reviews here once...If you like them I post them on my Topps Now Today page on Facebook and the Project 70 Facebook page I run. I know many on here just hate on things and only want to read in short bites that just want to push their own negative vibes on others...so I will save you your time. Skip over this entire post and leave your negative comment. I won't be reading it and am only posting for those who are on here who might enjoy them and want to make constructive comments on Facebook.

First off, these “cards” are supposed to be art or designs by not only artists but personalities. So, we should try and be open our interpretation of what art is. I am keener to actual paint or pencil artists capturing a likeness rather than designs but since a baseball card is normally just a photo with a design I will try and judge mostly on that. As a reviewer of these I am looking at first and foremost do I like it and would I want to display this in my home. The second thing is can I flip this for some money…and that does not matter if I like it or not. Another aspect (since these are baseball cards), would I collect this card or a set this card was in. Topps Project70 Card 1 by Ben Baller Topps gave the big carnival barker the first card again and with good reason. The guy can push a product. Baller’s PJ2020 were much higher than others in the later part but prices crashed as it was basically a pump and dump machine. I expect no different from this one. Look for extremely high PRs as the LA market and sneaker heads follow Baller’s lead hoping to get lighting to strike twice. Don’t count on it. The card itself is nice looking and of an active and hot player (One of the best IMO) and all-around good guy Mookie Betts. Done in 1988 design to grab on the memories of the 88 Dodgers. 88’s Topps baseball are to me what a baseball card is a nice clean design…this jazzes it up and makes it look like it came out in the 90’s and features a member of a boy band doing some sort of electric slide move. I take it Baller is going with trending items (the winter storm currently going on) by adding snow to the Dodger letters but to me that detracts from it…but what do I know I am not a trend setter like Baller. No “Baller Did The Card” on the front does make me happy. In the end I would not buy into a set that looked like this and by adding the snow it makes the card too right now that it won’t stand the test of time. I don’t get the pink and light blue stripes but it does look very 90210ish so maybe that is what he was going for….Don’t like the card. C- Prospectus: This is the #1 card and while it will print 10k ‘ish it should at least hold a $20 value. So, in that light it is a BUY. Topps Project70 Card 2 by 1955 Fernando Tatis Jr. by Ermsy I like many hated Ermsy’s interpretation of the Trout rookie. It was like an affront to baseball cards…but that was before I came to appreciate his art. Still not a big fan but it is his style and if you are a fan then this is a must buy. Actually the only must buy of the first three. It is typical of his style and but it also gives us a Tatis front and center that doesn’t have noodle arms and for that Ermsy I thank you. This makes this a buy for me as well. In the end: I would for sure buy into a set that looked like this…it’s a nice image of the player with the Ermsy style in the back. It is a piece of art that even a non Ermsy “Guy” like myself can appreciate. It is also a very hot player who should be tearing up the league in 2021 … Love the card. A- (Got to give him room to grow) Prospectus: As always buy what you love and you will never go wrong. Great young player, great design choice (year wise), amazing forward image with the “artsy” Ermsy style in the background make this a must own card. Print runs maybe high though I have gotten zero orders…so I’d buy one or two but it’s (Project70) too risky right now to go too deep. It is a BUY. Topps Project70 Card 3 by DJ Skee Had no idea who DJ Skee was until I looked it up but the same can be said for Baller and Ermsy when I first reviewed their Project 2020 stuff, so I am getting wiser in the world of Pop or HipHop or Sneekerdom or Whatever… A real accomplished young man (Scott Keeney) and not to take anything away from what he has done but I am not impressed with his 1st card. Overall it is nice but just like me not liking the Baller Did The Card thing I don’t care for the Sk =E (a signature I assume). I also don’t like the chain around the Bambino’s neck. Perhaps Ruth would have worn a chain if he played in this era but it just looks wrong to me. Someone showed me some computer skills and came up with a like design in a few minutes so I am not overly impressed. I do like the year design he picked (2018) and it is nicely added and adding the stats was a nice touch. The items scattered on the ground I could have did without but let’s see some more of his work before we pass to much judgement on that. In the end; I would likely buy into a set that looked like this and am interested in what DJ Skee comes up with next. I like the card. B Prospectus: Picking Ruth was safe and should sell some cards but I wouldn’t go deep. So, in that light it is a BUY. Topps Project70 Card 4 by Snoop Dogg Topps brought the star power by bringing Snoop Dogg in…not sure how his skills translate into baseball card art but I’m open. I had to look at Topps site to see what design he was taking inspiration from. Seems it is the 1954 design…I’d have never guessed…more like 1992 Pinnacle AND that is what I don’t like about it. Perhaps if he had the face shot with a photo of him batting I would have been more inclined to like the card. Also I am not about artist’s having their name on the fronts of the baseball cards but this one I mind a little less (but not much). It looks like Acuna was actually wearing the hat (I’m not certain) but that is why I don’t mind so much. I didn’t like the left photo so much but that is exactly what a pitcher sees when facing this slugger and so I am all about it. This is why I though a photo of Acuna going deep on the left would have made this card…DOPE. Last thing I don’t like is the font on the name…Okay if he carries the style through the entire run maybe I will loosen up but it puts me in mind of 1972 Basketball cards. In the end; I love the 1992 Pinnacle and if Snoop did a set like this With Acuna batting vs advertising the “Snoop Dogg” brand I would B all about it…I like the card. B Prospectus: Acuna of course a hot collectible so that and it being Snoop’s first I would not pass it up. I however would not go deep. This is a BUY. (I won’t give many not buys until I start seeing trends and Print Runs…just FYI) Topps Project70 Card 5 by Mister Cartoon Another Project 2020 alumni and one of my favorite artist from the set. 2021 Topps design and the year we lost Tommy was a great call and it is a great card. Not only is the art amazing the layout of the card is spot on. I have absolutely nothing to be nitpicky about. Except for maybe I’d rather the photo include that golf cart on his 88 Topps card. That one is Classic! In the end; I would be all in on a full set of Mister Cartoon’s if they all look like this. Picking Tommy was perfect, and I don’t think this is capitalizing on his death. I look at it as a great “In Memoriam” to a baseball legend. Excellent Job…A+ Prospectus: This card will maybe not print so heavy since Tommy is known mostly as a manager. I’m going to get mine but not many more. It’s a BUY but not heavy. Topps Project70® Card 6 - 1990 Ken Griffey Jr. by Bobby Hundreds Since I am in my mid-50’s I have no idea who Bobby Hundreds is but here is a guy who I immediately appreciate. If you have ever gotten a crappy off centered card from Topps you have to love this card. You don’t have to buy it but you just got to appreciate the joke. It’s almost like a flip off to the grading companies as well (or at least the way I see it)…and for that I love it. It is a shame he didn’t do the research and have Marty Barrett’s card poking on the left. Any baseball collector worth his salt would know it was not another Griffey to the right. Almost makes the card seem an off centered counterfeit! Fun fact Oil Can Boyd was to the left and Albert “Joey” Belle was on the bottom if you ever got miss cut 90’s cards (and everyone one did) you know these stupid things. Besides the fisheye look at the top Hundreds turned the Cup around and inversed the period and comma in the name as well as changing the color of the right and bottom bar from yellow to pink. Other changes I noticed were the undershirt is a different color (was blue), he added a button to the shirt and it looks like Bobby was added to the crowd behind Jr. Could be the undershirt is something from the Hundreds street wear line. In the end; I don’t know if I would buy an entire set of the find Bobby cards…STRIKE THAT…who am I fooling I love this card. It was fun pulling out the 90 Griffey and comparing it. This for sure will be making my set and my wall. Well done Bobby! A- (Minus for not researching the Barrett card) I am so looking forward to the next one he puts out. Prospectus: I don’t care if this card goes down to a penny I am buying. Problem is many will be, so it is not going ever be crazy pricey. But that is okay…This is a BUY. (AGAIN…I won’t give many not buys until I start seeing trends as well as PRs)

I am a fan of art and of course baseball cards, so it's always neat to see these artist interpretations on cards. Project 2020 did not interest me, mainly because there was no Cubs on the checklist, but also because it was the same 20 cards over and over and over.

Project 70 is very appealing to me. Decided to write up daily reviews on my thoughts. https://onemillioncubs.com/2021/02/1...ard-gallery-1/

The problem with the 2020 set is that there are a TON of hobby legends all In That early 50’s period. And they already had a 54 card represented so no banks. |

Welp they got me today, Derek Jeter had to be purchased. I have the complete 20-card Jeter P20 set, so I might as well continue with any Jeters that get done in this set and just expand the art collection........

I think the artists can use the same player multiple times in this set. I haven't heard about any limits. They might have some. |

The Topps website certainly wasn't helping. The AP link just sent you back to the main page and the the damn puzzle piece was annoying.
