Default To crack or not to crack

I have a rookie card of a great player graded 10 by a not so great grading company. How do you know when to crack and how do you crack without damaging card? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

There's some good videos on YouTube on how to crack slabs, it's really not that difficult of a process. Depending on what you're talking about, just be cautious and take your time.

Probably worth buying some cheap slabs for practice.

I use snips and a flathead screwdriver. Plenty of videos out there. Don't use any sort of tool to cut the plastic... the heat generated will just bond the plastic back together (I tried).

Should've mentioned power tool since, ya know, snips are a tool... derp. My b.

My first attempt at cracking a slab was a Dario Saric rookie in a BGS slab that was thrown in as a freebie. I'd maybe try on something like that before a Kobe rookie. Once you realize how easy it actually is you won't be as concerned.

Also helps to put something like a shirt, towel, etc. over the slab as you snip it. The plastic can really go flyin.

Heavy duty tin snips work well. I cracked a couple BGS cases with those and no issues

Crack or don’t send. This is always the answer.
