I’m in 4 boxes at 260, and then 310 for 3 each. Didn’t even try at paninis rate

Wanted to get just one. After a couple minutes, I made it from purchase screen to checkout review. From there, kept on getting an "unable to fetch" error. Now they are sold out.

Yeah I think January or Feb was the last time I tried (Revolution perhaps). Definitely rusty here as I couldn't even get it added to the cart.

I'm wondering if this is the first release that finally gets flippers/resellers...

Selling out at $350 means they'll try to get more then that on the secondary market, and I have no doubt that some people will pay the price...

But I just can't imagine that the market will be that big.

I could be totally wrong, but this is frickin' hoops base we're talking here!

This 2021 basketball product season is going to be really interesting for sure.

watch the story of the reception to hoops. some of your pessimism isn't shared by their customers.

This is true. No star rookies really yet - maybe Ball? What cracked me up on the Panini site is that they had photos of Morant rookies etc with the box. It's like...those cards aren't going to be in that box. lol

not going to lie - i tried to order 3 from the site and made a mistake by refreshing and then rest is history...

FOMO hit me hard so i went on to BO for a box at 449.95 lol - but did manage to get 2 more off ebay - one for 399 and one for 393.

I collect sealed boxes as well so i guess it is what it is..

Here's what I suspect is happening, and what I think has been happening for a while now.

For a product like this it would make sense for breakers, websites like BO, and other major "players" to just buy up everything Panini offers on their website. This continues the illusion that the product is in high demand and justifies the prices they're asking for on their platforms. If this product just sat on the Panini website unsold it would destroy the illusion that it's in demand and they'd have to lower their prices.

By buying everything at Panini's elevated prices it gives them the opportunity to unload product (even if only for a short time period) at the perceived higher price evaluation. I suspect this manipulation has been happening for quite a while now.
Just look at the online exclusives where the distributors have no pre-sale prices or inventory, why do you think they sell so much lower? It's because of the reasons I stated above. They have no vested interest in artificially inflating prices.

Anyway, I'm sure this is obvious to most but I just felt like venting. Happy ripping everyone

Hate to say it and I know most won't agree, but I'll take Prizm Draft Picks hobby boxes over this crap all day long.

Any idea why these cost $350 and a Hoops Premium Hobby/Hybrid from the '19-'20 class is $400 in the after market?

19-20 is a much more exciting class and premium stock is a much better product...

I'm confused!

Flipper and 'investors' who got enamored by the crazy prices of 2018-19 and 2019-20 who have no actual idea why those draft classes were valuable are propping the market up. Eventually they will get caught holding the bag when they realize there isn't that big of demand for this stuff.
Personally if I can't find it on the shelf this year, I will buy zero. I will take the $100 others are spending on a crappy blaster from this year and buy 4 Zion Mosaic rookies.

Those two products aren’t really apples to apples in terms of what’s in the box, but I definitely see your point. I’d rather buy three Walmart Hoops Premium Stock mega boxes at after market prices before I’d buy one of these.
