How does this thread feel about the 1985 Star 5x7 of Jordan sealed on top of the pack of Bulls? I own one of these. And I have always been very confused about the market for them. For one thing, it's got serious Tongue... Rookie card too?

Of course they are Jordan rookie cards. Right now, the 1985 Nike Promo cards are in MJ's rookie lists, so why not the Star Jordans? I would suggest you grade the card when you have time. There is a magnificent difference between graded one and a raw, same thing goes for the 86 Fleer.

What are the thoughts on this one? Does it look real to everyone? Negotiating a price now...

So glad to see Star 117 getting the love it deserves. That was a $900 raw card value back in the good old Beckett days. Everything else has appreciated nicely other than it.
Very happy I picked up a non-true gem BGS 9.5 when I did. Helps ease the pain for selling my Fleer 86 BGS 8.5 0.5 from 9 18 months ago

I checked the population for all Star Jordans graded 9.5 which include 22 Star Jordans cross the year from 1984-1986. There are only 1270 copies graded 9.5 and the 86 Fleer has 558 graded 9.5 (without PSA 10s). These are extremely "rare" comparing to LeBron rookie cards, however the 9.5 population for 2003 Topps Chrome is 3208 (without PSA 10s) and 8497 for Topps (without PSA 10s), in addition, LeBron has many other rookie cards as well, but Jordan only has 24 NBA licensed rookie cards, so the future value for these is beyond my imagination.

I would like to hear from our Star expert on Blowout. Seems to me that BGS has slabbed a lot of trimmed Star cards.

What exactly are you driving at? Is there a point? Because you could make that accusation at every single card grading company for any card ![]() Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I don't know how to quantify "a lot" But star is trimmed in slabs just like every other f ing product people will pay for in high grade. Star is not immune. And neither is BGS. They don't have a monopoly on trimmed cards. That fun is spread all around unfortunately. With star at least, if you learn the original cuts and some other tell tale signs on certain issues you can avoid it mostly. |

The battle of Jordan rookies has ended a long time ago, and the winner was clearly the Fleer company, but please give our collectors some chance, we need some affordable Jordan rookies, so why not give Star Jordans a little more respect they deserve? I sold a 2003 Topps Chrome LeBron rookie and bought three BGS 9.5 Star Jordans which I think they really worth the price since these three were like 3k in total years ago while my LeBron rookie was a $200 card.

What's everyone opinion on splitting up money and getting a few star cards, or throwing it all in on one? Like these cards a bunch but wondering which is the smarter move

I bought two 86 Star Jordans and one 85 Star Jordan (all 9.5) and I am think purchasing an another 84 Star Jordan to make my Jordan rookies collection a little bit complete. In fact, I don't left much from the previous sale of that 2003 Topps Chrome LeBron, so I would probably pick 288 or 195 of 84 Star. General speaking, the major cards in the set always attract more attention and raise faster than the others, but I think the other Star Jordans beside 84 101 and 85 117 will also increase their values along with the rising of 84 101 and 85 117. However, I am happy with what I did with the profit I made from that LeBron rookie.

Does this card seem a little bit narrowed?
