Just realize people want what they cant have, so yes the mantle will continue to bid up, but don't underestimate the #57...All it needs is some more press and we will be at 500k...317 pop for psa 10 at least 1/2 are stashed away not for sale. So it doesn't take much for this to happen.. Mantle total pop 1405 which is only 7% of the #57 pop....So like I said if you cant get a mantle the jordan is the next best post war card......

So if PSA 9s have typically sold for close to 30% of what a 10 sells for does that mean we're going to start seeing prices of $80-90k for them soon?

Centered specimens would be my guess. Once 9s hit 100k if they do I’m selling. I still have my BGS 8.5 to fall back on.

I would hold for atleast another year the fun is just beginning.. with ever record sale of the psa 10, there will be more press and someone will be willing to pay more for the next one. Sooner then later the 10’s will dry up and then that is what sends them to a new level..these opportunities don’t come around to often in life, make the right decision that is right for you.....cheers

the two that did sell north of 60k were outstanding 9's. (imho)

now, this is an interesting comment.

b/c "everyone" will have to decide where their PERSONAL supply=demand.

to think, we've reached the point were some folks can consider liquidating
and pay off their mortgage.

mind-blowing

Yeah, but pretty soon I'm thinking regular 9s will reach or eclipse that level. There are 2 ending tomorrow night so it should be interesting to see where those go.

You’re 100% right. This is getting into the “Pay for my son’s future college bills” territory.

Incredible. Just plain incredible.

That unopened 1986 Fleer case was a great investment at $3.5 million

I bought a BGS 8.5 MJ along with a raw 86' Fleer Complete set for I think $4k right before Last Dance. I haven't even really been looking at prices since then. Didn't realize it had shot up this much!!

Honestly, with this particular card, some of why we’re seeing this explosion is because it’s literally what it would take to pry one from a Jordan collector. Every card can be had at a price, but to a collector—there’s “never sell” cards that go to the grave. 57 is one of those cards. High grade ‘87, ‘88 and ‘89 are heading that way too. It would actually take “life-changing” cash to sway many owners of these cards to sell. Everyone has their magic number in mind at what it would take, but to get an idea of what that might be, just look at all those who are still holding despite these crazy prices!

Good point. I haven't even considered selling my PSA 9 57 and I bought it in the late 90s for less than $1k. Even if it goes to $100k I'm probably still going to hold on to it.

You made a really good point. I'm never selling my 1986 Fleer Michael Jordan 57 PSA 8. It's not only my favorite card in my Jordan PC, but it is my favorite card I own, including all four sports. I still own these three MJ Auto's, and while they are also staying with me, I'd get rid of them before my MJ RC.

Here's my 1986 Fleer 57 PSA 8 that I love, even the bad top to bottom centering:

Thank you, this is what i have been saying and why prices will continue on the up tick....This will make all jordans rise as to the unavailability of the #57. As time goes on you will not see multiple 10's for sale...It will become a topic of wow there is one for sale one this site or private sales that happen at numbers well in the upper 6 figures... be strong...a childhood hobby that turned into gold...cheers..

Exactly. We’re at a spot now where the disposable cards are all traded for/purchased and locked away for good. We’re literally in the “raid people’s PC” phase of the acquisition process. The struggle between the investor and the collector for the “heart and soul” items. Yeah, I’m convinced the prices we’re seeing is just the beginning. It will take a LOT more to wrangle these away from true collectors. It’s just how we think. Our PC’s have come along side of us through life and have been a great sense of enjoyment/goal achieving satisfaction. You’re not just paying for the card—you’re paying an extra premium for my joy—which may be worth more than the card!!!

But that’s the reality of a purchase like this as the last remaining people who are willing to part with their Jordan PC do so now. Soon, only those left will come with their owner standing at the front door with a loaded shot gun and negotiations will begin with a genuine sense of being offended that someone brought up the idea of them selling their Jordans. Take their daughter but not their 57. They will feel insulted with the 6-figure offers. That’s next in where we’re heading with these! That’s where you’ll see some big time $ exchanged.
