There are no so many NBA licensed With Chamberlain autos out there, so I am just curious will these auto increase values in the future? In fact, they are already pretty high right now.

Don’t see why they wouldn’t, especially those collectors that have them probably aren’t selling

Wilt's 2 most popular autos are from 1999 Epic Signatures and 1999 Retro INKredible, which are both iconic autographed sets to begin with so their popularity should only continue to drive demand, provided the market stays hot.

I think even when the basketball market has a small cooling, these will continue to stay steady and increase.

It's actually 1999 Upperdeck Century Legends and the reason I know this is I used to have a Wilt auto from this set and a DR. J auto #/6, I personally opened around 6 or 7 cases of this when it came out and like a dummy sold them all off. Each case had a century legends century auto usually numbered to their jersey or 100.

I know that the on-card / pack-inserted Wilt Autos are the most prestigious collectibles, but the affordable options are those signed index cards or cut autographs (usually from his signed books) that are authenticated by PSA/JSA and encased. The autograph "pops" against the white background and are really nice prime examples of his signature, which is generally larger than on small trading cards. He was a friendly prolific signer, but the demand outweights the supply, so they've gone up a lot the past 5 years.

Today's new players have attracted 99% of sights and investments and that made the old timers cold which is sad.

I just don't see younger collectors paying major prices for players they didn't grow up with. Of course Wilt's market could stay the same or even increase, but not in the same way as superstars from the 90s and later. Those are safer options from an investment standpoint, at least in my opinion.

On the other hand the prices for those all-time greats are so low compared to young prospects - if I want to spend 50 bugs Id rather buy a nice larry bird card instead of anfernee simons and the like. |

Players like Wilt Chamberlain, Bill Russell and Kareem Abdul Jabbar who played in the eras with no internet and connections. At that time, basketball was only an American sport mostly , but some collectors are still paying high dollars for their rookie cards since these cards have eventually became antiques today. If some cards can become antiques, they are in a completely different story as the other high end rookie cards, and no rookies cards will match them.

For this hobby, people of their generation will stick with their generation superstars.

I agree but not entirely. My generation's superstars are Kobe, Kevin Garnett, Tim Duncan and Allen Iverson. I only catch the tail of Michael Jordan's prime time which was his Wizards era, but I still pay my top budget for his cards. I also collect other guys like Karl Malone and Olajuwon's rookie cards even I didn't had much chance experience their greatness. The NBA legends shouldn't be forgotten.

Lot of us as kids wanted older rookies way before our generation. Wilt, Howe, Mantle, etc. Never saw them play but there was something about old cards/legends just like 60s cars that can never be reproduced. Not to mention everyone and their mom has a Jordan/Kobe rc...boring. |
