Topps Project 2020 is the worst product since 1991 Fleer

I got my order of the 3 packs 380-385 and there were 7 cards.
Foil Don C Jeter was a good card to get this treatment.

It’s certainly the most interesting one as it takes a DVD box cover and turns it in to the actual disc.

When prices started taking off, and sellers were backing out of deals on eBay and elsewhere, the OP offered his “law services” to help buyers try to keep sellers in line. He said he’d take P2020 cards as payment.

Then when prices dropped, it appeared he started backing out of legal agreements as a buyer.

I’d say more about him, but since he’s banned and can’t defend himself, I’d rather not. I doubt he will be missed.

Fun to see people post completed sets they worked on. My Thiele, JK5, and Griffey sets are complete. I am now just waiting on my last Don C. I'll have 19 of the 20 Trouts (missing Ermsy) so I'm undecided if I'm going to complete that one or not. Now I just need to complete Thiele's run of Heritage cards. What a wild ride this set has been and I'm glad I jumped in after initially deciding this set wasn't for me.

It’s another fantastic aspect of Project 2020 that so many people are actual set collectors. Of course there are people picking up individual cards, but I don’t recall any other recent product where so many “sets” are being chased AND displayed.

P2020 is one for the ages. I still believe this whole thing is just getting started.

On one hand I'm glad that Ermsy went out of his comfort zone... but I would've been happier if he just did something amusing:

- If I'm reading this correctly, Tony Gwynn has died, gone to heaven, and is batting right-handed? Is this because left-handers sit with Satan in hell?

- The one good thing about seeing Tony Gwynn play baseball in the after-life is that I think Warren Spahn's pitching to him. Am I supposed to believe that a right-handed Tony Gwynn has hit a bomb off Spahn? Next thing Ermsy will tell me is that Gwynn went 1-4 with a HR and 3 SOs that night.

- This is like a depressing mash-up of Ermsy's Willie Mays, Ermsy's Mattingly, and that episode of Davey and Goliath where Grandma Hansen dies.

- The halo feels so cliche to me. It sorta looks cool in a graffiti context <King Saladeen Ted Williams, but only the top right halo>. But, I give P2020-related cards one halo. ONE.

Got cards 398-400 today! Bittersweet the project has come to an end but happy to finally have complete collections.

I'd love for them to do this with football rookies as well.

Four sets complete minus Trout Emrsy -- I'm on the hunt for that one at a good price.

I'm trying to view this as how they go together since I got the email...Tony almost looking back on his life (small portrait) as he is being moved on in the base card tot he after life in the companion, with the ball being the tie in between the two. I don't expect any of Ermsy's cards to be physically correct, so the handedness issue doesn't bother me, but I get it would bother others. I wish it was a clearer tie-in because I'm struggling with the story in my head that they tell together.

Thiele's card looks much better to me with "the kid" as a righty. I wish he left it alone as I read left to right and this has me reading right to left now. It's fine, I just digest it better with the kid as a righty.
