With countless folks doing rip & ships on FB - I don’t think the hoarding is a problem. From I gather, some of those folks are buying on the secondary market. Most nights I can watch a live stream of these rip & ships where they sell cellos for $35 each, hangers for $50 and blasters for $85.

At the moment, if folks will pay that price for a rip & ship - I’m not overly worried.

Prob from discord where monitors pick up stock count for any given sku. Notifications work 10% of the time because they lag the actual listing of inventory and bots usually take all the available inventory.

I tend to think there’s a recency bias whenever there’s a release like this. When Mosaic came out people were saying the almost exact same thing as everyone is saying about this product. I do feel things are in a bubble, but I still think there’s far less supply of new product than there is demand. Seeing pictures online of people’s botted out hauls/supply is not indicative of a flooded market or significant increase in supply. It’s probably more indicative how how sports cards have captured the attention of everyone who owns a bot and has caused more people to use bots. Instagram and social media are loaded with accounts of flipper accounts and that whole game has grown incrementally over the last 3-4 months as the PS5 brought a lot of that game into mainstream media. I’m not saying there’s not more Hoops out there than any other product. There probably is. And you could probably convince me theres a 20-40% production increase over Mosaic. That still doesn’t mean there’s a “glut” of it out there. You can convince me of that but not that it supersedes demand significantly enough where prices won’t jump similarly to Mosaic. And I’ll stand by the the opinion that tons of Hoops is being cracked because it’s kind of a slow point in NBA and sports card releases. I think breakers are buying the hell out of it to open because there’s really not many other semi-affordable options.

if they have mountains of it they are sitting on it and not selling OR people are just still buying at almost 3x MSRP (which could be very likekly). I've been closely watching Hoops and Prizm Football and football is more than Hoops right now and has not come down that much at all.


I just think there are so many damn people in the hobby now that these prices can hold still high because people are willing to spend.

Beat me to it. Everyone said this with 19-20 Prizm. Everyone said this with Mosaic. Everyone said this with Chronicles. Now everyone is saying it with Hoops Premium Stock. It will only become an issue when demand cannot keep up with production, which is definitely not a problem now. Might be a problem in the future, we’ll have to wait and see.

Right now the 80ct megas are the clear winners as far as resale goes. The sets haven’t hit 3x SRP yet, and the megas are all going for over 3x. The sets would really have to get closer to $500 to be a better buy than the megas. $150 worth of sets is under $400 and $150 worth of megas is nearing $500. Of course this is only applicable if you got them all at SRP.

But the sets you can break open and make even MORE money because you're guaranteed certain cards.

Open those Megas and who knows what you're getting.

Of course, that requires more time and effort, but the opportunity is there.

Yeah I keep waiting for the sub $150 80 cts everyone says are coming but not seeing any so far

They haven't got to Canada yet because of covid so there still must be stacks of this.

Or it never comes here and you get a double dump.

Over 500 walmarts here so a lot of product.

Singles prices on the Pulsar singles haven’t been doing all that well recently. Luka used to sell for like $15, and I just saw a Dallas Mavs full team set including Luka sell for only $5.99. As the sealed sets move closer to $400, it is getting tougher and tougher to make that money back in singles, unless you get lucky and hit a good Pulsar pack.

I wouldn’t consider the set boring, but overall you have the right idea. The color Pulsars are nice, but there are no numbered cards, no autos, no inserts, etc. in the sets. Biggest card you can hit is a gold or black Zion or Ja, and you’d have to open dozens of sets at $350+ for a chance at one of those.

It's going to take some time, but the base pulsar will come out just fine. There is only 15k of them and many are being held in sealed sets. They are much more limited, and great looking. When all this plays out over time, my guess is that the pulsar base will be much more desirable then the regular base cards. That being said, the prizms of the base cards will also have strong demand imo...

I’m not saying the pulsar set is a loser (I still have 4 sealed and I’m holding), but they don’t have the same ROI as megas if bought at SRP.
