I feel like there are a very large number of better ways to invest $2000. BUT it is your money so I hope it pays off

I have a bunch of Anthony Bennett Prizm RCs you can invest $2000 in. Would probably bring you the same ROI

Pretty interesting idea, actually. Pull a special, rare "moment," and you also get to submit a name of your choice. Then, you get sent a short personalized message clip from the athlete (kind of like what the Cameo app does with B-list actors). Deceased players...not sure, but I guess they could figure something out with family members' consent.

I'm not investing in this either, but I'm more intrigued by the idea as time goes on.

Edit: I didn't realize this, but I guess some athletes are already on the Cameo app.

Here's an example of one Drew Brees made for a fan recently.

spent few thousand on Flawless base 2012. Still worth the same amount. If this Topshot junk goes to zero. the most i will lose is $2000 if i do not sell at its peak, if there is a peak.

Yes, i thought this was ridiculous. but when you talk to the young crypto generation it is what they want. they are not that interested in physical cards and chasing boxes of prizm. The new kids are totally different mindset. I had to break my denial of what is stupid and ridiculous . But what pushed me into actually trying this was the future "game" aspect that is supposed to be released.

I spent about $300 at the very beginning and grabbed a Ja/250 and a Barrett /50... Today those moments are selling at over $700 each and I have about 25 other smaller moments like reddish, sexton..... I'm not sure what the future holds on these, but it is a very active market and like grade said, the crypto players absolutely seem to be in love with it... One of the main reasons I threw in a few bucks was that the NBA seems to like it as well...

multiple people have mentioned crypto but crypto has an actual utility and solves a problem. Plus blockchain is truly a revolutionary technology and we haven't even scratched the surface on that front

These cards are nothing like crypto at all. I think this is being heavily promoted right now and the demand isn't quite what it seems.

If people can make money, that's cool but I just don't see this really sticking around.

If everyone knew everything, we all be billionaires.

over 10 years ago, i tried mining bitcoin for a few days. I tried because i thought buying was stupid. I should have just bought $1000 worth. failures and success pretty much even out or even makes huge money many times. I dont play the lottery often, but will buy $20 worth today. Just for the trill.

You won't actually own the photo of course, since I don't have rights to it, but you'll be able to click it in my album and look. You can probably even download a copy for yourself.

Am I doing 2020 right?
No thanks, ill just buy a fake Jordan. Same photo as the iconic 86 fleer.

Aside from them producing this annually, these particular clips stand out as most are from the 2020 2nd half Covid Season. Pretty strange to see no fans in the stands. With the cost of boxes right now, why the heck not.

People need to also understand the blockchain concept and how it applies to the individual digital card/clip and its unique serial number.

Very interesting concept - I take pride in being a very open-minded person, so I'm definitely not dismissive of this. I ask to those that do question the value in something like this, I'd just ask you what specifically has inherited value aside from the value "others place on something and a large enough people agree on it's value" ? ... What I mean is as someone else said in this thread - cards by themselves are worthless, just cardboard. Even autographs on cards is just a pen mark. A jersey on a card is a tiny piece of cloth. Heck, even money is worthless and it just has value because enough people trade with it. I think you see where I'm going ...

I will say though that in my opinion the inherited/true value that something brings is universally the joy, positive emotion that thing brings to someone ... And an expectation that someone else has that same emotion from it (and they can trade it when the time comes)

Anyway, this could go into a much more deep philosophical conversation, but the point is if people value it or anything - even if it is not yourself - it has VALUE by my definition. Though of course you could argue the value is more risky and can fluctuate more, which is probably true.

NBA Series 2 just dropped today. 90 cards in the set (open). Each base clip(moment) serial numbered to /4000

26,940 Packs total
3 clips per pack
$9 per pack

9400 left as of this post

Seems to be picking up interest

I am still of the opinion that the next generation of collectors will be going fully digital with their collections. "Stuff" is an older generation concept. I don't know if this the app to do it. I do know that with each new app, more is learned on what works. At some point, one of these will take off.

I also wouldn't mind if more of the "card" money would outflow into this kind of stuff, maybe prices would drop a bit. I suspect it is too separate markets though.

Also, only 6,614 left from the last post. Almost 3000 sold in the last hour.

They were going to leave them up until 1/18 then pull them down.... they wont make it through release day.
