Man, those 1997-98 Century Marks are great! I have a few as well (not as many as you have though), and it's definitely a long shot to complete the set.

Like many people here these cards bring up great memories of collecting (not investing). Guy had a random lot for sale and this was in it. I grew up going to Clipper games and loved Piatkowski!

Did anybody here buy the Popeye Jones 1997 century mark auto off ebay yesterday. I ended up being the second place bidder and need this card

When I was a kid just starting out in cards, the early Autographics series were the very first autographed cards out there that could be obtained by busting packs. The 1997-98 series really caught my eye (and still does today!) - the simple and classy design, the star-studded checklist, etc - just beautiful. It was truly the holy grail (other than the signed Jordans from SPx at the time) - you always got excited whenever you opened a box of Skybox and got an Autographics (even better if it's a Century Marks!).

After that, Life™ happened and I moved onto other things. Seeing this thread I busted out an old box I had lying around and took some pics. Boy does this really bring me way back. I think I have about 20-odd of the Century Marks in the 97-98 set, way too few to get started on making a set, given the pretty ridiculous prices that they seem to be going for on the Bay currently.

One day.. maybe.. never say never!!
I forgot to ask....did you pull some or even all of these Century Marks yourself?

Did you try contacting the seller there and ask to connect with the buyer? Seeing the price going over $200, I was like wow....it's crazy!

Yeah, I was the high bidder the entire auction and but up a bid at $253.45 to hold it thinking there was no way it was going that high. I honestly have no idea who else would want that card besides somebody trying to put together the century mark set. But, I'll see if the seller will tell me anything

Hi there,

No way I could have pulled these from packs myself! The Skybox boxes I recall were very popular in the golden mid-90's (circa '94-'97) and people in my area were busy busting boxes and packs almost every day. The Autographics were something very new and were not popular with everyone. I believe I also managed to trade a regular Autographics for a Century Mark of the same player, topping up with cash, more than once!

About the mid-90's - Finest, Topps Chrome, SPx, and the various Skybox products like EX-2000 and EX-2001 were really popular those days, moreso than any of today's products I reckon. I have so many memories of busting pack after pack of these goodies! Completely different from today's sports products where every card (pretty much) is a 'hit'!

I continued going through my box of old goodies and took more pics and scans, and also included another (non-Autographics) card I discovered in the box!

That Kobe Credentials Future is sick! E-X2001 is definitely my favorite product.

Did you pull any 1997-98 Autographics yourself? If so, do you remember which one(s) and do you still keep it/them?

Anybody need any of these:

1998-99 Shawn Kemp, Skybox Premium, Autographics #68 SOLD
1998-99 Calbert Cheaney, Skybox Premium, Autographics #27
1998-99 Danny Schayes, Skybox Premium, Autographics #109
1999-00 Ervin johnson, Skybox Premium, Autographics #55
1999-00 Pat Garrity, Skybox Premium, Autographics #37
1999-00 Vladimir Stepania, Skybox Premium, Autographics, #101

Apparently the Kemp has some value. The rest are commons. Willing to sell all

Not Barkley, not Pippen, not Olajuwon, but still took a long while to finally land this card for the 1999-00 regular version set building.

A superb looking card of an under-appreciated 90s great. Congrats on the latest addition!

Anyone need any of these? I'd be willing to trade for 97-98 autographics I need or if you have any of the 1997 football autographics I need as well.

Add another player from the 1996-97 set with signature variation: Muggsy Bogues.

Full autograph vs. first name only

From what I saw in the past, his blue ink parallel is first name only.

Hey i am not sure if you are aware of today's prices but your Kobe is worth a lot. Apparently sold recently for 20k. I am just saying in case you keep it in a box, make sure it's a secure box lol.

Lol yep! Unless they don't sale. It's the prices of the big guys that have me depressed and losing interest with it. I love the set but I'm not a big spender in cards. I can't ever see myself buying the barkley, rodman, miller, etc and it will kill me to not be complete. I figured if they sale for the price I want I'm done, if not I may keep trying lol!!!

Not much moving lately, but did upgrade the 2000-01 T-Mac card that I had to a nicer copy.
McGrady's autograph started changing slowly to "T-Mac" from the 1999-00 set, but the change becomes more apparent from the 2000-01 set onward.

Comparison with the 1999-00 counterpart:

It makes me wonder if anyone did request McGrady to sign his old style autograph during his previous paid signings. I personally enjoy his old style signature more.

Picked up some more signature variation for the 1996-97 regular set.

Dennis Scott: with signed jersey number vs. without
Most regular cards are signed without jersey number added.

Loy Vaught: detailed signature vs. non-detailed
Most regular cards are signed with the non-detailed signature.

Getting close to completing the 99/00 set now, picked up this recently.

Kendall Gill and Jelani McCoy seem
To be difficult, does anyone else have these?

I am interested in any Skybox Autographics Autos of players in their Lakers uniform.

Let me know what you have and what you might want for them.

Thanks in advance.

Waiting on THE big one to come in the mail for my 2000-01 set!

Anybody have any of the lower end 2000-01 set laying around? Still need a bunch of them.
