Clemson was without their QB, who is expected to be the #1 pick. Just wondering, but for the people saying OSU shouldn't be in the top 4.... How aren't you saying the same thing about ND if they get beat tonight by 3 td's?

Disclosure: I think ND should be in the top 4 regardless of the outcome tonight because there isn't another team close with them, resume-wise. The current top 4 are pretty clear this year. Clemson and Bama just happen to be head and shoulders over the other 2. It kinda doesn't matter who the other 2 teams are this year.

Well that's a back breaker. How do you let that happen.

Clemson keeps this up, that #4 spot might get interesting.

I found myself in a week-long fight for saying the same thing. People want to add more teams to the playoffs, as though Cincinnati and Oklahoma are the teams that can beat Bama and Clemson.

The part I struggle with when debating the playoffs - I think it’s hard to penalize ND for playing in their conference championship and rewarding someone like A&M for not risking a loss this weekend.

I think you have to include ND UNLESS Florida beats Bama then it’s Florida / Bama / Clemson then between OSU and ND for 4.

Maybe Oklahoma but the committee has never put a 2 loss above any one loss P5 team

That's what you just did with Florida, though. I don't think Florida is in, even if they beat Alabama.

Haha that’s fair my bad - I guess I just don’t see the SEC champ ever being excluded - can you imagine the chaos if Florida beat Bama and Bama and A&M made it in instead of Florida the internet would melt! Haha

I'm with you on the playoff. I love games meaning so much in college football. It's what separates it from other sports. I do get the other side though that it's not a level playing field since a g5 school basically has no shot. I just think if they were there, they'd get crushed so it doesn't really bother me.

I agree with you, which is why I say ND is still in this year, regardless of outcome because nobody else is right behind the "bubble" teams (OSU and ND). If A&M would have played Bama tougher, I could see a case to be made, but they didn't and that was their chance.

ND the kings of overrated. Always play nobodies in regular season to have a good record then get to a bowl game and are exposed as frauds.

Doesn't really matter who's in the playoff. It's Bama and Clemson in the final, 100%.

So TAMU can’t overcome a 28-point loss to Alabama but Notre Dame should be in with a 28-and-counting loss to Clemson? Not seeing the logic. At least TAMU found the end zone.

Simply because they beat the only team they lost to. Don't know how TAMU would jump ND when Florida just lost to a really bad team and they only dropped them 1 spot. But I guess it could happen. Their fascination with the SEC is pretty clear every year.

If the committee wouldn't get backlash, they'd have 4 SEC teams in the playoff every year lol

As I, and others have said, it's Bama, Clemson, then everyone else. You might as well give another team a shot at Bama instead of the same team Bama has already killed.

But TAMU never got the opportunity to play Alabama without Mac Jones unfortunately.

I just have a hard time when one team is playing a game not on their original schedule because they had a better season and made their conference championship and the other team doesn’t even have to risk losing this weekend.

Basically if ND is playing their way out of a playoff spot they would have benefited from having a Covid outbreak and not playing this game - they had nothing to gain playing this game they could only lose a playoff spot.

This is one of the reasons I was arguing for conference champions in the argument about expanding the playoffs - I don’t know what the right answer is it just doesn’t seem fair to punish a team for playing in their conference championship

Notre Dame and Ohio State produce eyeballs on TV’s

TAMU does not

As stated above its going to be Bama vs Clemson anyway

The CFP has 2020 as the built in excuse to go for ratings

Which they will

Um I mean TAMU did play a game today, and won. So they have the same record as ND. It’s not their fault they’re in the same division as Alabama and the Tide are instead playing a Florida team with a worse record. Shades of 2017 with Alabama getting in despite not playing in their championship game.
