I didn't realize how easy it was. Spend 21k, break down and ship and account for over 30,000k cards.

I parted 2 of my sets out at $665 without selling any of the Ja or Zion cards. I also still have 1 Lebron, Luka, Herro, Coby, RJ, all 10 colored cards, and a bunch of cheap rookies. I sold the commons in lots of 12 for $3 each and they sold quickly.

So without grading/pulsars, we are comfortably over $300. Based on my optic fanatics sets, I would guess those who do this well will add $150-200+ in additional value (after grading fees) per box.

This is such a yuge win.
But scanning, listing, packaging, supplies, travel, time, interest, leap year, the northern lights, eclipses, alien visitors from Saturn...

Is it really worth it?

Dude, you don’t have to sell every single card individually.

Go look for some of the Baseball case break threads from back in 2008-2016 and you’ll see lots of members breaking 10,20,30 CASES of cards.

There used to be a time when a lot of us would buy a box and average like 30% ROI, but it was still fun because collecting cards is fun. Now a 2-3x return and a bunch of cards for free is a bad thing because it’s too much of a hassle for some...what a world.

Don’t forget the potential of an unheralded rookie who you don’t bother to sell because it’s not worth it, one day being worth it. Imagine if they had a set like this in 2013 and you made back your investment selling a bunch of MCW cards.

How do you figure when Panini is running the printers on the other SKUs until they break down. Those are coming next week at the latest.

Couldn't help myself and opened another set

Brandon Clarke Green
De'Andre Hunter Gold
Dwayne Wade Tribute Blue

Think I'll quit (for now) while I'm ahead and keep my remaining sets sealed

No matter what anyone says it would be a ton work, time, money to do 100 sets.

I think the best bet right now is to rip and sell singles for maximum profit quick. I’m worried prices of sealed and singles will drop once these cards are out in different formats (blasters, megas, etc). Right now people who missed out on buying these sets are dying to get first dibs on all singles. Even the HOF tribute cards are selling fast. What a world

You'll always be ahead regardless of what approach you take

These are offseason prices. One good game by Ja, Zion, Herro, and company (also second-year Luka and Trae) is all you need basically to be WAY ahead. That Luka will be at least $40 during the season just watch

I mean I've got 50 sets left still to open. Going to be a bitch going through them all, but 100% worth it. Hopefully hit a couple Zion/Ja parallels in those packs. Statistically I should, but let's see.

Edit: After reading the rest of your posts, I can't tell if you're broke and worried about buying cards and paying interest on them or a terrible bot kid who doesn't know much about basketball.

Yeah he's an idiot. I don't know who would waste their time with the commons anyway. If you want to sell less popular guys list all of the same player together. But you only need to sell the top 15-20 guys and the pulsars to do great.

Anyone know the exact odds of pulling a Ja or Fatboi out of an arbitrary bonus pack?

I'm a terrible mathboi, but 300 card set with 5 cards per pack...means 60 boxes to pull every card assuming perfect/no dupe collation.

4 total jas/fatbois = 1 in 15 boxes?

Doinitrite?

Yeah it would suck to spend all that time to make about the same money I'd make take home pay from my job in a year. Let's see 40 hours a week times 52 weeks. 2,000+ hours plus 90 minutes driving each day. Gas and wear and tear on the car. But you're probably right. I'd be much worse off piecing out 100 Hoops Premium sets.

Keeping my 14 sealed sets for now. Told myself I’d sell when they hit $300 which should happen by the start of the season. Even with megas and blasters hitting the shelves soon, I still believe sealed sets will stay hot during the season.

You clearly don’t understand how to buy and sell sports cards. Which is fine. Don’t give advice to people who do.
