The market REALLY likes mosaic retail for some reason. I don't see much upward movement in anything else. The more quality retail like prizm/optic are already sky high but the cheaper stuff like illusions and chronicles hasn't moved much, maybe a tiny bump. Can't say at this point mosaic was printed in short supply comparatively to either chronicles or illusions either to account for this type of rapid increase. There's just a lot of mosaic being ripped and demand to want to rip it

my guess is that it can still be razzed / broken pretty easily. the allure to gamblers of hitting a huge genesis is there, whereas in Chronicles you're looking at a lot of work selling off the 10 tiny hits. also, specific to Megas you get a disproportionate amount of base rookies, which helps keep them alive to do another break.

You're right, mosaic does offer the rush of hitting it big...and the resulting disappointment on the occasions you don't whereas chronicles you just know you'll do alright because the baseline is set. I guess I'm risk-averse so I like ripping knowing that I won't feel major financial regret so I prefer chronicles. Illusions makes no sense to me while it's priced the same as chronicles.

Mosaic is most fun to rip though. I do enjoy the megas, I think it was around 15-18 base rookies in the mega and probably around 25 rookies total/box with the debuts and parallels added in. I always did better than the 1 mosaic and 1 silver stated per box also. Hit a zion non-debut silver out of a mega the other day which was quite the high. Love those, reminds me of optic holos. Clean, true silver design

I sold a bunch of my chronicles stash at a loss to essentially re-balance the exposure more towards mosaic. Megas and hangers were selling the same for both products for a few weeks there so I basically traded. Math and break data says if price is equal, mosaic > chronicles >>>>>illusions. Longer term, who knows, if more rookies from 19-20 break out chronicles will narrow the gap to mosaic and other retail products like it did for 18-19 given the sheer amount of rookies

I’m guessing the following will make Mosaic hold value:

1. First release as stand alone brand
2. Genesis/Rookie Variation potential
3. Rookie Class Potential
4. 2nd year Luka and Lebron Lakers championship year?

I ponder these questions daily.

One thing I know for sure:

Mosaic = MONEY $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

I’ve been preparing a PSA sub, and literally every base and silver have so many dimple issues and tiny little scratches. Has anybody had any luck getting PSA 10’s with these on the cards?

base/silver is tough. had better luck with color.

I sent in my 4 best base zions and got 3 9’s and 1 10. Have some more stuff off too that will probably do even worse.

Just over 300 mega box listings on ebay now and going steady around the $200 mark. To put it in perspective, these were about $100 a month ago. Thinking these are going to dry up v quickly.

Did anyone snag that 18-box lot of megas for $2,300? That was a deal.

Opened up 30 hangers 10 blasters 27 cellos since the product came out and ended up with a few monsters and 32/37 PSA 10s from submissions. By far the best retail luck ive ever had

Someone commented earlier they sold a ton of Chronicles retail at a small lose to buy Mosaic megas. Wish I woulda had the foresight that guy did. Mosaic megas jumped more in 3 weeks than Chronicles retail will in 6 months. In a few months the Mosaic megas that you could of been buying $110-$130 will be $300+ again.

I’m sitting on a nice little hoard and it’s taking a lot of patience to not rip everything. But when you guys post what they are selling for sealed it makes me feel better lol

Regret not buying more at $100-125. Had too much tied up in singles.

Pretty sure that was eastbayak . I kept both, but after the Hoops and WNBA buys I probably need to release some as well, I’m out of plastic tubs

My LCS was selling them for 110 so i picked one up. Hit a Mahomes MVP Gold Flourescent out of 20 that is a great PC card for me.

In general, I love mosaic...probably my favorite product and wish that there was a licensed baseball mosaic. Even at that, I would buy a box of mosaic baseball for sure even with the pajamas.

He was very smart. Mosaic megas in a month will probably be 2.5-3 times what they cost 3 weeks ago by the end of the year, Chronicles retail be lucky if its doubles by 2022.

Haha, I appreciate the but it might not have been me. I did move some Chronicles retail for a small gain and re-invest it into Mosaic megas though. But I only ended up with 12 Mosaic megas and still have a significant position in Chronicles retail.

I don't mind because prices are uptrending but the better play would've been to offload Chronicles at cost (or small loss) and re-invest into Mosaic (primarily megas). Fortunately the Hoops premium stock sets help us (or at least me) forget about it :P

Or the better move would have been to not buy Chronicles at all! Lol if it was as easy as just bringing it all to one place no strings etc and getting my money back I'd do it to just break even. If 19-20 stays great Chronicles will go up but I'd bet by time I sell them whatever I profit if anything could have put into a bunch of other things and in less time made probably a whole heck of alot more.

Yeah but this is why we diversify! Some win small, some win big. But the best thing about 2020 is it’s been extremely hard to lose.
