Most countries with robust contact tracing programs in place use some kind of tracking or at least a phone app, which obviously wouldn't fly in the US. But there are definitely small improvements that could have happened by now, like more funding for contact tracing jobs and more support for people when they are forced to quarantine due to possible exposure.

Heh, these fellas like to group attack anyone who won't blindly exalt their dear leader. They regularly call us things like "unhinged" and "nuts", but the fact is, if they weren't so afraid of being suspended, any number of them (and Astros, in particular, who has priors in this regard) would have already gone to their time-honored gender-derived blunt inserts where you are concerned.

In the 2016 Political Thread, one of their regulars actually typed out the words that specifically referred to Hillary Clinton as something that rhymes with "shucking bunt". They think the same thing of Pelosi, the Squad, Whitmer, Kamala, and you, as well, when you won't fall into line.

Believe me, the words they (ok, ok, some of them, not all of them) are typing in their responses to you are a whole lot different than the ones they're thinking.

Do I fear the mods? No, but I respect their work, can enjoy the Forum because of it, and don't wish to make their jobs harder.
Do I have to countenance hate speech? No, because I don't hate the people I'm talking to or about (even Trump), so it's not in my internal monologue to be edited as I type.
So how am I able to avoid the name-calling so often directed our way?
It's because I know so many words, the best words, that I can tell you, believe me, and when I use them, it's a beautiful thing.

Lol. Yes, I have often been able to see the restraint some of these "gentlemen" exercise in regard to how they choose to address other posters here, including myself. At times, I can "feel" the words they'd like to use, the ones they can't use without fear of discipline, the ones reserved for only the most contemptuous of adversaries.

If any of them are reading this post, rest assured, I know which words you'd prefer to use. I simply don't care overmuch about it. I believe certain phraseology says more about the person who chooses such diction than it does about its target. Still, I can sense many times as I read certain posts that the writer was clenching their teeth as they censored their abominable affronts, revealing only a passive turn of phrase in their place. To those people, I offer my sincerest apologies for the perceived forcing of you to practice your "big kid" language. I am aware of the strain that places upon you.

I appreciate your concern, and please consider your wishes for my husband and myself returned for you and your family as well.

Unfortunately, the Lincoln Project's masterpiece, "Challenge Accepted: Great American Speeches" can't be embedded here because Trump's own foul language in it would have multiple triangle smashings directed my way, no doubt, by those seeking the bounty prize on me, the existence of which was admitted to by a fellow member earlier in this thread.

What about on your end?

Had roughly half the kids we normally get here. However the weather is terrible, mid 30's and 40 mph winds. I was very surprised we had as many as we did given all the circumstances.

Articles like this one beg to be refuted. There is more than enough material within it to allow for intellectual discussion. Yet, your simple-minded "left leaning" comment is somehow supposed to replace relevant, rational dissent with unsupported categorization intended to convey your disapproval to your audience. Your cronies can supposedly now remain ignorant of its text because you have examined and dismissed the offering for them, but in reality you judged its merit by its source, not its content.

Don't you do that a lot though. On several occasions I noticed you would end your posts responding to people with a passive aggressive comment. Such as "Go bleep yourself" or how you'd phrase it, "Go Fly A Kite". You do the exact same thing you are bashing others for doing.

In case it isn't clear, I'm agreeing with you about the harm that another lockdown would cause. But in the absence of a lockdown, the lack of contact tracing in the US will be a huge problem this winter and beyond.

Lot's of rambling on this one, I made a point, no matter what, there was no chance of stopping the virus. The proof is there. You could get tested once a week, but if you test negative and then pump gas on the way home, you get COVID and you have spent a week spreading it. I don't care about an article, I don't care what expert says what, we have months and months of data that shows one constant... the virus is going to virus.

Let's say I tested once a week, we'll call it a Saturday, and results come with a few hours. Now, I am negative. I get COVID that night. I go to church on Sunday, go to work Monday through Friday, went out to eat on Thursday, went shopping on Friday. Next thing you know, thousands of people could have been exposed. Contract tracing can only do so much. Now, looking back during the lockdowns of March, maybe that should have been done more. However, you and I know you aren't getting 340 million people on that page.

If that stat is true I had no idea that many people died in this country annually. If people started pushing that number and put scarier words/graphs/pie charts into the message you could get people to freak out over that as well.
