That Jackie is fantastic! So Nolan Ryan's foundation page has a disclaimer saying he won't sign P2020 cards anymore...does anyone know why? Did he sign a contract with someone? I sent in my Thiele about 7 weeks ago and I'm trying to figure out if I'm going to get refunded or what.

Some are in the BST for the Project, but yeah, I really have nothing else to offer this forum. Though I’ve grabbed some boxes to open packs with my daughter, which has been fun. So I’m slowly getting back in to cards again. I have more boxes of old cards to grab from my parents next time I visit them. But I don’t think I’m doing anything with cards that would make my posts valuable in other threads. Though posting that Ralph GIF when anyone says they can do what an artist can do isn’t exactly valuable either.

The speculation a few weeks ago was that his foundation had signed something to only go through a particular party for P2020 cards.

Someone on the P2020 Facebook page about 5 weeks ago said they have something set up with Nolan Ryan but that it wasn't an exclusive deal for P2020 cards and he was unaware Ryan would no longer be signing P2020 cards through his foundation until reading the Facebook thread about it.

Yeah, it made me sad too but I have a very specific P2020 goal (complete 400 PSA graded set) and I just realized I kinda need to sacrifice all my other stuff to get there!! Grading will cost a lot.

Good luck with your graded set quest Ugli. I am only doing graded sets for my two favorite artists and even that has been stressful with the centering and surface issues. You can see the centering on Ebay, but sometimes you end up with hidden surface or edge issues. Enjoy the hunt though!

Yeah, the Mike Trout had the all-star background in the first draft, but ditched it. His set now has more consistency:
- '52 cards: '58 all star background
- '54/55 cards: b@st@rd child of '58 and '54 Topps
- '59 card: the worst baseball card ever made subset

I assume he won't use it for his next cards. My inner baseball card nerd loves this stuff, even it's aggravated by him mixing up the AL vs NL background colors.

This one looks okay, but straying so far from the original makes it harder for me to warm up to the card. I was imagining him doing something crazy while keeping a similar perspective to the original card, sorta like his Willie Mays. This one is a good companion for that filthy Oldmanalan Jackie [or as a contrast to the other cards in the set, like Sophia Chang].

Yeah, it’s not gonna be easy! I think I’ll be settling for PSA 9 for a lot of cards! I think the chase, or grind of completing the graded set will be fun!
