Is that your $250 price tag on the card?

I've often wondered about this at card shows. So many distractions and people passing through.

I hope you find them and the thief is prosecuted to fullest extent.
That's bassically not even a possibility. It would be impossible to prove the person who currently has the card/cards is the person who stole them.

eBay message says stolen property can only be filed by police when I clicked to report as stolen just now. Seller is in Arizona which is reasonable he would be your culprit at the Dallas show. Hope this works out in your favor. If there’s something the common masses like myself can do in getting more eBay attention on it, happy to help do so

did you buy anything else from his Ebay accnt? perhaps a mailing address would help along the way somehow. If anything it may lead to police contacting him in some way to ask where and how he came to own that Buxton card. Seems like contacting him so quickly may take away your element of surprise and give him time to develop a clever defense

Brilliant idea. Buy the cheapest card they have.

If the seller hasn’t responded to your messages about the Buxton then they are obviously involved somehow with the theft.

I would message them when you receive the card you buy and simply say now that you have their name and address you’ll be reporting to the police about the Buxton and others. Then you’ll find out how involved they are

What a terrible tory, hope something comes out of it for OP. Please update us.

Ebay Seller is (the listing has ended with 0 bids, so he knows he's been caught, or is involved):

Item location:Glendale, Arizona, United States
Seller: ahmu-17 (371 )

he does have several other cards on sale for cheap, someone can buy and get his address.

he's also got some recent negative feedback :
-overly sensitive seller who gets offended discussing shipping, cancelled order
-Don’t ask him to combine shipping he will cancel your order without hesitation

If the card has a price tag the original owner didn't put on, the eBay seller is 95% an unwitting accomplice who just bought the card at a card show. I'd throttle back on roasting the poor dude until something else pops.

To op did you file a police report? This happened to my uncle who owns a 2+ million dollar baseball collection.

The police recovered most of the stuff from fairly local sports memorabilia shops which had cameras. Turns out the thiefs were a couple of guys working on his house. Also without a police report it will more be difficult to recover the items.

To be fair, the guy who listed the card very well could have bought it not knowing it's history. Not really fair to them to assume they were involved.

***UPDATE***

Shout out to eBay seller ahmu-17 for being a stand-up dude. Got back to me this morning. He's a dealer out of Arizona. Purchased lot including Buxton and Trout comically cheap on Offer Up (of course). Allowed me to just reimburse him for cost on Buxton to be returned. Trout was sold at a card show and is now likely in the hands of a collector which I will not be pursuing further. Did not question the story or try to hide what else may have been purchased. Has offered to help find info on the seller.

Got lucky. So A++ highly recommended on this dude.

Thats awesome and glad you at least got the Buxton back. Hopefully he can dig up some info on the guy he purchased them from and help you out on the rest!
