Default Looking for help with Lot of '70s cards

I found a lot of raw 70s Topps rookies (and a couple 2nd years) baseball cards I'm interested in buying. I think they look in really great shape overall, but I'm new to the vintage so I'm not sure if they're acceptable versions. I was hoping to grade many of them but I'm struggling since my eye is more used to "perfect" modern cards. Anyone have a minute to PM me and help a newbie out with some advice whether this lot is worth it or not??

It was this lot. Ultimately, I had to pass. What do you think? If the best cards were sent in, think there was money to be made with this one?

I would say it sold for a fair price, but not a profitable one. Too many filler cards, and too many off-centered or with corner wear that would max them out as EX-MT.

I have to agree Mjohn. Fair price but not much profit if you immediately flip. That said, vintage prices are crazy right now. Carter and Rice RC prices are much higher than they were a year ago. As a hold, it would be a decent purchase.

The cards with the most upside and risk are the Carter RCs and the Schmidt RC.
The Schmidt looks like a PSA 4-5, but the pics aren’t great. Hard to see the lower right corner. If it is a PSA 6, you win, I’m no expert but I don’t see it. One of the Carter’s might have potential for PSA 6. The Brett RC doesn’t look to be in great shape, but it is a Brett RC. PSA 3 or 4.

Good luck collecting vintage and have fun.

Yeah, the Brett, Schmidt and Carters were the ones I was really after. Figured any of those in as much as a 7 and it paid for the lot. But I couldn't pull the trigger not knowing what sort of grades I was looking at. Interesting you're guessing some 4s in there, that's good to know. Thank you

Not an expert and the pics aren’t great but I don’t see a PSA 7 in the better cards.

For vintage. Collect what you love. Subscribe to Net54. Look for a fair price. Buy from trusted sources. The rest will follow.

Have fun.

I search all the time for these cards and the price was for both seller and buyer. My advice for these cards is to just by them graded. Raw versions that look good, go for way too much money. I need to bite the bullet soon and buy a Brett rookie. It is a card I have always wanted since I started collecting cards.
