9/11 killed less than 2,000 people and the whole republican party cheered when the Patriot Act was passed.
COVID kills 200,000 and we can't even get you people to wear masks because "ma rights!" Do you not see the disconnection? |

I've tried and tried and all you ever want to talk about is Trump. It's endless. The man gets more attention than your spouse and children combined, and you think you have an idea of what's best for America when you can't even give your own family the attention it deserves. It's pathetic to watch. How many times did Trump golf today? What's Trump Tweeting about now? I wonder if Trump almost fell today or got ghosted on a high five... I need more memes! Maybe you don't have kids. I don't know. You all start to blend together with your insincere gibberish. The point is that your whining is endless. You contribute nothing. And you default to the conclusion that you're somehow more aware than everyone else, that the rest of us just don't get it, all while never actually contributing or saying anything real. It's just Trump... all day... everyday. "But... ballhawkdawk... you're, like, doing that same stuff now too!" I have hundreds of sincere posts in this thread, which I've realized is largely a waste of my time because I'm attempting to discuss things with people who are fully capable but simply don't care as much as they pretend they do. "I think that I can have a polite dialogue with someone who differs from me... And so, on the one hand, my advice to progressives like myself, and this is advice I give my own daughters who are about to head off to college, is don't go around just looking for insults. You're tough. If somebody says something you don't agree with, just engage them on their ideas." The above is a perfectly stated message from president Obama, directed at the party that he represented when he was leaving office in 2016. And here we are... the level of engagement is stuck on, "the guy you voted for sucks." |

What's with the protests in Lancaster, PA? The body cam footage is already released and it shows the perpetrator running at the cop with a knife before the cop shoots him....

![]() Patients afflicted by covid do have a higher propensity to have clotting disorders which can lead to DVTS/PE's and stroke. numerous studies are ongoing and the rate of clotting disorders may vary depending on the size of the study. https://news.weill.cornell.edu/news/...%205%20percent. |

Try to paint us as whatever you want. But at the end of the day isn't this a free country where we should be allowed to choose what risks we want to take, etc? Or does that only apply to people that wanted to riot with no masks??

A bit of good news:
US halts imports from China's Uighur region for forced labor - StarTribune Four companies and a manufacturing facility in northwestern China were blocked Monday from shipping their products to the U.S. because of their suspected reliance on forced labor from people detained as part of a massive campaign against ethnic minorities in the region. |

Another example in how not to do reporting.
"How One of Mexico’s Largest Migrant Camps Has Avoided a COVID-19 Outbreak: Matamoros began its preparation, with extremely limited resources, in March. So far, it’s paid off." So the headline and the first half of the article are about various preparations the migrant camp made. But how does the article actually answer the question of how the camp avoid a major outbreak? "There are a variety of possible reasons for the relatively low impact of COVID-19 on the camp’s population, according to Perry. Although the rate of malnutrition is high, the average age is fairly young. People who were sick at baseline or had severe underlying conditions probably did not survive the arduous journeys that got most people to the camp. Besides sleeping in tents, they are mostly outdoors in hot, humid conditions that the virus doesn’t like. And many are wearing masks....No staff at the clinic have become sick either..." - Young people - The old and sick died before reaching the camp - Living outdoors - Sunlight - Wearing masks Aside from wearing masks, not a lot of that aligns with what people want in the United States. So the article isn't nearly as inspiring when you actually read it. Also: "Like many all over the world, some migrants believe the virus is a hoax. And not surprisingly for people who have been abused and lied to by their own governments, and ours, many see it as a way to control them." That's a lot more sympathetic than articles typically treat Americans who are suspicious of the virus and the claims made about it....... |

If it was truly about the people's well being in these states why was the focus not put on those people that are high risk instead of forcing millions into unemployment and small business owners into losing their dreams? Why the focus still on how to use the virus as a tool to keep down healthy individuals from making a choice to do things like vote in person? Why has the focus never shifted to those that really need the protection from the virus? If it's really about the protection of people? And why are you so mad that the Constitution was upheld? Isn't that what American's should want? Even if it doesn't agree with their opinion or narrative?

Funny that I was thinking they seem similar. "George Floyd said 'I can't breathe', and now I can't breathe in this mask, so, like, what's up with that?" The husky broad nailed it with that bulletproof logic.

I'm just confused as to how the same people can cheer the Patriot Act while complaining about so-called unconstitutional measures being taken to help prevent the spread of a virus.

After the Sandy Hook massacre, some dipsh!t talking head said something that, while I couldn't believe it at the time, I now realize encapsulates the republican/libertarian mindset perfectly.
"Your dead kids don't trump my rights." Meaning, no matter who dies, or how many die, your right to be an a-hole is more important than other people's right to live safely. It's illustrated in your counter-arguments to gun control. It's illustrated in your counter-arguments to global warming/environmental issues. And it is illustrated in the arguments against preventing the spread of COVID. |
