I remember him doing inteviews with Maddux, those two were great to watch. He also became good friends with Ted Williams if I remember correctly.

Pedro & Randy Johnson are two of the most dominant pitchers in baseball history, and both undervalued.

I still voted for Frank Thomas. He & Griffey were the 90s to me.

You can't overlook Maddux's dominance. I look at Pedro/Randy/Maddux has the big 3 for that generation.

Peak Maddux 92-98: 127-53 2.15ERA 1675IP 269BB 1286K His highest single season ERA during that period was 2.72 and the second highest was 2.36.

I'd go Donruss or Tiffany, but UD is also a classic.

I was thinking.....

1. 89' Tiffany
2. 89' Fleer Glossy, Marlboro Ad?
3. 89' Upper Deck

Anyone disagree?

oh man, I forgot about the Marlboro one. That's more of a RJ grail though, the good ones at least.

He beat the sb record by 50%. Unlikely any mlb record gets broken by that amount.

I am thinking of picking one up. Can’t quite splurge on the tiffany or the glossy Marlboro. Third best one is it fleer glossy or upper deck? Glossy has such a lower pop.

I went with the players that are considered "common" cards. Maddux never really got swept into that category. His value has held up according to price guides.

Henderson shouldn't be on this list either then. His rookie is super pricey.

my vote was for him, but almost went Gwynn.

The 80s were far from today in terms of card choices, card stock and grading. A PSA 9 was a huge bonus and a PSA 10 was unheard of unless you were a dealer lol. So I used PSA 9 prices for rookies as my "guide".

IMO, Johnson is a top 7 pitcher and I'd put Gwynn way up there as well.

They are really undervalued IMO. I have two of the Green Marlboro errors that look in amazing shape coming to me soon for $20 a piece. There are some nice red error ones on ebay for $30 to $40. These cards should be worth way more! I am trying to collect every error out there!
